  1. Funny logo issue

    Oh the irony!!
  2. Just In Free Video Tutorial on Using Filemaker to Manage Jobs

Thank you ColorCrest! I've downloaded the document and will start skimming through it. Will have to look into the relation between QB / FM and what the best-case scenario would be for us. The main goal is to have a clear, organized system in place but I don't want to add a bunch of...
  3. Just In Free Video Tutorial on Using Filemaker to Manage Jobs

Thank you Gene!! I will check these out tonight. Appreciate you taking the time to do this.
  4. Discussion Calculating net profit margins on specific items

We want to have a look at our most profitable items and product offerings. As I'm sure you all know, being in such a custom industry creates some challenges in doing this. We don't sell any standard "off the shelf" products, every job is custom. That being said, we do have some main...
  5. What was the smallest change you made in your business that had the biggest impact?

Good idea. We've done this occasionally but I will start doing it more often, as our list of internal projects is growing. Just yesterday we figured out how to gain more vehicle install space in the shop by moving our "offices" upstairs to a nice quiet office space that we very rarely use...
  6. What was the smallest change you made in your business that had the biggest impact?

Sounds like some good improvements there! I've got a growing list that we need to start working on...now to find the time! Definitely a good idea to track the key frustrations and implement solutions to resolve them. So many little annoyances throughout the day go undocumented and you just...
  7. Just In Free Video Tutorial on Using Filemaker to Manage Jobs

Thanks Gene!! Super helpful. I'm going to test this out tonight. I played around with some of the add-ons last night (Calendar & Kanban board) and I think that is going to tie everything together for us. I'm so impressed by FM and your step by step videos have been a HUGE help, so thank...
  8. Is this new............................................. ??

Probably some kind of PC bullchit. Sombreros and maracas are too "stereotypical" perhaps. Wasn't there a thread here a couple of weeks back about banning the use of the Chopsticks font? :banghead::banghead::banghead:
  9. Just In Free Video Tutorial on Using Filemaker to Manage Jobs

Spent a few hours this weekend re-watching these and following along while I started playing with FM. Really helpful and explained in a way that makes sense to newbies. I showed my buddy who's a developer and he was blown away by how powerful FM is without any/much coding at all. This coming...
  10. RFQ/New Job Specs Checklist

ColorCrest Thanks for this, I must have missed it when you posted it originally. I spent a few hours over the weekend playing around with Filemaker and am slowly but surely getting comfortable with it. If you don't mind I might send you a PM with a couple specific questions at some point.
  11. Anyone using a Colex and Onyx?

Not familiar with Colex, but are the sample files you're cutting using printed images with registration marks? I know with our Summa flatbed we had that issue but the camera just had to be calibrated. Possibly similar to your issue?
  12. Blended Gross Profit Margins

I take it your net profit is much higher than 10% ? Ours definitely fluctuates around 10-20% throughout the year, depending on what we're working on. Then again our nut is pretty big in comparison to our sales volume. (Working on it) I'd love to hear what other companies shoot for or are...
  13. Black/black mesh banner?

Thanks, will reach out to them! Maybe we can get it slit down.
  14. Black/black mesh banner?

Does such an animal exist? I've got a new potential customer looking for some 50' long site banners and wants both sides to be black w/ the odd printed logo (logo on one side only). I figured we could rig up one of our printers (not sure who the lucky victim will be yet) to run the material...
  15. Website header impossible to read

This is going to take some getting used to!
  16. Viable laminator sled ideas?

We also use a coroplast sled. Make it 65" x 12" or so, and use it until it gets too thick to shove through the rollers. We've been doing it this way since we got our laminator 12ish years ago. The "tech" tried telling us we had to buy and use GBC craft paper under all prints. Not so much.
  17. New Shrink Wrap Setup

I like the one step idea. Seems like the heater or whatever the second process is takes up a bit of space.
  18. Why do they make printers, laminators, and cutters in different widths?

A lot of the sizes you're mentioning don't exist with the mainstream manufacturers, and I personally wouldn't worry about anything that isn't 54" / 63" wide. Think of the biggest size you need now, then go up a size or two. Personally I wouldn't look at any equipment smaller than 63" -...
  19. New Shrink Wrap Setup

That's awesome, was actually just thinking about getting one of these last week. Would save time not trying to find just the right baggie for our decals! Thanks for sharing.
