  1. Logo Critique for a Friend of a Friend

Signmeup - Cool font choice (what is it?) and great point on the "upscale" look. I agree my first draft is a little too fun... looks like a them park logo :)
  2. Logo Critique for a Friend of a Friend

By the way, here's the first rough draft idea I sent to him after I saw his logo idea. He absolutely hates this. It's too animated. His words were, "frankly, it is too cartoonish". Sheesh... try and do a guy a favor. Anyway, back to critiquing his logo. This is great stuff! Love the condom...
  3. Logo Critique for a Friend of a Friend

Well, I'm stuck in another quandary. No good deed goes unpunished. A good friend of my shop assistant is starting an aquarium business -- custom builds, cleaning, maintenance, fish & coral breeding, etc. He asked for our help to put some ideas together for a logo, biz cards, van wrap, etc. Out...
  4. Camo Wraps

Yes, I have the same question. We have made some custom camo patterns in house, but a lot of customers want what's popular... trademarked patterns. Can the patterns for Mossy Oak, Advantage Max 4, etc be purchased for print??
  5. To premask or not to premask...Opinions please

Not much man, just sitting here printing, printing, printing. Wondering if we're in a time warp or something. What's this "premask" stuff you guys speak of. Isn't that what they used back in '82 to letter trucks with?
  6. Wrap over existing vinyl?

What does that have to do with anything? Are you implying you have such high moral standards and work ethic -- not to mention free time -- that you'd strip that box trailer out of the kindness of your heart? All I'm saying is there's no sense in beating up the poster. In this business, we can...
  7. Plumbers Wrap-Humor

One of our customers -- unfortunately -- found that pic online while looking for ideas for their own wraps a while back. This is what it inspired them to have us create...
  8. To premask or not to premask...Opinions please

    Premask? What's that?
  9. Wrap over existing vinyl?

You guys are being way over-dramatic. He already said there's 3 layers of vinyl on there. The other 3 didn't fail... did they? Stop knocking the poster for being "lazy" or whatever. You don't know the situation. We sure as hell wouldn't remove all that vinyl without charging for it. If the...
  10. Photoshop Problems with New System

Man, CS5 screams on this system. No problems so far with corrupt files either.
  11. Laminating Long Runs... Problems...

When you guys say to put high tension on the feed side are you referring to the laminate feed or the vinyl feed? I have a 54 Base and have run into a few problems with the vinyl walking an inch or so left or right over long runs of 20 feet or more. However, I rarely have problems with the...
  12. Photoshop Problems with New System

I just downloaded a CS5 trial. I'll run that for a couple weeks and see if it the problem continues. Guess it's probably time to pony up for a newer version anyway. Just wish Adobe would offer a "pick your own package". I need PS Extended, AI and InDesign. The only way to get those 3 exact...
  13. Print problem sp-540v

If several normal or medium clean cycles don't pull the crap out of the nozzles, then you should probably do a head soak. Despite what anyone tells you, you should never wipe the bottom surface of the heads with anything. For regular maintenance... as in every day if you a lot of printing...
  14. Photoshop Problems with New System

Any computer gurus out there who can give me some advice on what to troubleshoot first? Here's my setup... Asus P5N-D Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.5GHz 8GB RAM WD VelociRaptor 150GB 10k SIDE Hard Drive (operating system & programs only) Maxtor 1.5TB 7200RPM SIDE Hard Drive (two mirrored drives...
  15. Wrapped my laptop

The more I look at it, the more insane I realize this project is! How the heck did you get all the letters on the keys to line up? The trimout on the keys is phenomenal. And it just dawned on me that the wallpaper lines up perfectly with the vinyl around it. That's nuts!
  16. Wrapped my laptop

I wrapped my laptop a while back... but I'll admit, it never even crossed my mind to wrap the keyboard too! Phenomenal job!!
  17. step by step boat wrap guide

It is a lot of mask... but that's the product to use when making templates for boats. We stock 48" low tack mask specifically for making boat templates. Just work the cost into your bid. Mask isn't that expensive.
  18. is printing lime greens: possible??!! frustrated!!

True. There are many here who will probably swear by profiling. It is probably worth it to at least have a pro come in and profile all your monitors and your printers. We haven't done it yet, but we haven't had too much trouble getting the colors we need.
  19. is printing lime greens: possible??!! frustrated!!

Now you're talking my language. I love lime green, chartreuse, grabber green... anything in that family. It really stands out in a crowd. All I can say is take your time, print small color tests -- and print several at once to save time, keep track of the tweaking you do and when you find a...
  20. Aaaaaaaaaaargh PopUP material

We've been using Popup with 210 matte lam for a few months now on retractables and other static banner stands. It makes for a beautiful display. Haven't heard of any failures... yet. I'll be knocking on wood though. In your experience, how long does it take for the lam to fail? Let us know...
