  1. Possible to nest contour-cut job and non-contour?

We do this quite often, I agree 12' is a bit longer than I like to do for contour cutting, but as long as the media is loaded correctly it should be fine. another option is to print the long non contour job then set your base point beside it and run your contour job, you can then cut off the...
  2. Early Christmas present!

Im impressed, you are faster with the laminator than we were. However there are still 2 people in your video, if you do it yourself, with all the juggling the board and running back and fourth I'm willing to bet you are closer to 8-10 minutes. but at the end of the day, you do what makes you...
  3. pre made sign work table

Here is a quick photo of our tables, about $80 worth of lumber and about 2 hours to put them all together materials: 6- 8' 2x6 2- 8' 4x4 2- 8' 2x4 plus whatever you want to use for a table top, we lucked out, the building we are in used to be a huge woodworking shop, they had a skid of 1.75"...
  4. pre made sign work table

Wow, for the cost of 1 5x10 table from them, I could make about 12 of our 5x10 tables. Ours are just 2x6's and 2x4's with a laminated particleboard top, they weight around 500 lbs each though.
  5. My first Rant - frustrated with Wasatch customer service...

Yeah if you specifically told them what you were trying to achieve, it's 100% on them to sell you the correct product, no excuses! i would be escalating this with them, you are 100% in the right on this one keep us updated, send them a link to this thread!
  6. Top coat for floor graphics

Agreed, use a laminate made for floor graphics. Also do not tell him it will last years, floor graphics take a lot of abuse, I usually tell clients to expect 12-18 months, it's not like they are overly expensive.
  7. PVC Sign Blanks

I would make a new sign, use the existing sign as a template, a jigsaw, router and 30 minutes of your time and you have 2 nice new PVC sign blanks. my concern with re lettering is that there is a good chance of ghosting where the old vinyl was.
  8. using plexi/acrylic over alumalite

this is also the first time i've heard of an outdoor donor wall, sounds like a bad idea, vandalism would be killer!
  9. using plexi/acrylic over alumalite

I would avoid it, you would be better off to apply the vinyl in reverse to a sheet of lexan, then back paint it and use that as your board, the vinyl can't be picked off and no worries about different expansions.
  10. Embossed elevator sign?

those are most likley something the elevator company had made in bulk a very long time ago. I would look into something like photopolymer, which is plastic, but it can be painted to look very similar to what you have.
  11. Need 3.5" and 1 5/8" corner rounder for 3mm AL composite panel ACP does this exist?

at $5 per rectangle, I would jump on that! The shop who quoted you that must have made a mistake on the price, that's only $30 for them to load the sheet, hold it down, run the router, unload and clean up, absolutly no way that is feasible! I would think 1 employee could do this in less than 10...
  12. Need 3.5" and 1 5/8" corner rounder for 3mm AL composite panel ACP does this exist?

What kind of quantity are you looking to do? I can't think of a corner rounder, but a simple hand router and jig would be fairly quick, unless you are talking about thousands of pieces.
  13. Early Christmas present!

Out of curiosity, have you had the opportunity to use one of these machines? Up untill today, we also used our seal laminator to mount prints and unless you know something I don't, it's not even the same ballpark compared to using one of these machines. the sales rep did tell me that these...
  14. Early Christmas present!

Yeah rolls roller just recently came out with their "entry" series, they are basically stripped down versions of their larger machines. They don't have a lit table, but the mechanics are exactly the same. They also come flat packed and can fit through a standard door.
  15. Early Christmas present!

Im a big believer in buying quality equipment, not a single tool or piece of equipment has cost me anything, they all make me money!
  16. Early Christmas present!

I doubt anyone can mount a print to a 4x8 mdo board in 3 minutes using a traditional laminator, and if you can I imagine you are pretty beat up by the end of the day if you have 20 or more boards to mount. everyone who has one can't stop saying good things about them, the way I look at it...
  17. Early Christmas present!

it's more of a benefit for applying large sheets of vinyl to substrates, with our standard laminator, it took 2 people about 10-15 minutes from start to finish to apply a 4x8 print to a board, with this new machine it takes about 3 minutes for 1 person to do the same job. The big selling point...
  18. Early Christmas present!

it's the entry model, so no light table or anything, it's 55" wide x around 100" long cost us $15,000
  19. Early Christmas present!

We decided to treat ourselves to an early christmas present and get a rolls roller,it just arrived this morning, got it all set up in about an hour, already used it to mount a few signs. what a difference in both time and quality of the finished product, i think this machine is going to see...
