  1. WTF? Contour cut in Flexi converts to uneven dotted line?

I'm sure you've checked this but... Select the contour cut path and then check the stroke line type on the Fill/Stroke [or whatever it's called] dialog. Since contour paths are paths with a stoke and stokes can be dotted lines this may be the culprit. Or not.
  2. Help choosing computer??

... 300 ppi images as input? Unless you're printing at 1200 or more dpi there's no reason whatsoever to deal with input at more than 150 ppi. There's lots of rationalizations but little else. A minimum printer to input resolution ratio of 4:1 is what you should be doing. Assuming that you're...
  3. Cutting shapes with foam core

Cutawl. The sovereign tool for just this sort of thing. Not cheap and not all that easy to find but worth it.
  4. Help choosing computer??

Just buy the biggest baddest computer that's on sale and comes in whatever package you want [desktop, laptop, whatever]. It doesn't matter because In a couple of months it will be a passe boat anchor. The only real difference between computers is speed ,and magnitude of memory and storage.People...
  5. Advice Needed, Never Done THis Before

Haven't go the pieces back from my CNC guy as yet. Lots of solutions. I Like the paint mask, if I had any the right size I'd probably do something like that. Failing that I'll probably just use a simple paper template with the suggested strategic corners cut out for pencil marking on the wall...
  6. Advice Needed, Never Done THis Before

I have a cut-out of many pieces cut from 6mm expanded PVC in two colors. This is some unknown being's clip-art creation, certainly not mine. I'm just implementing it. The thing is 60"wide and ~32" high. It's going to be applied to an interior finished drywall with VHB tape. I've stuck...
  7. Is this a blade offset issue?

Offset, once set, remains set. Unless you've changed to blades of a design different to those you were using when the blade offset was originally specified or you arbitrarily diddled your plotter's offset specification then this is not a blade offset problem. More likely it's a tool carriage...
  8. 3 days until inauguration

Which words, exactly, give you pause? Actual quotes, not hearsay.
  9. How much does a logo need to be changed to use

Since any organization with any sort of proprietary interest is out of business you should be able to use it in any way that gets you off. There's no one to complain. But why would you want to use the logo of a loser?
  10. 3 days until inauguration

Ah my little cabbage, what any poll might indicate would depend very much on who is doing the asking, what they are asking, and, most importantly, who they are asking. In the case of these 40%+- polls it would appear that the CNN poll had 23% or so Republican participation and the ABC poll had...
  11. Logo Reproduction

When it's your turn to post you get to say whatever you what in whatever words it might please you to use. When it's my trun to post I get to say what I want using whatever words it might please me to use. You do not get to choose my words. If what I say or how I say it disturbs your delicate...
  12. Logo Reproduction

Because I want to and I can. The only reasons to do anything. All else is rationalization. This morph1 specimen puts me in mind of the sort that, if you told it that elephant tusks and piano keys were both ivory it would just naturally assume that elephant tusks were made from piano keys...
  13. Logo Reproduction

Are you always this silly or do you have to work at it? That butt ugly logo you were try to show off has two distinct parts. As I said the entire logo in this image is indeterminate. Since you seem to either be deliberately obtuse or ignorant, indeterminate means that no one now how actually...
  14. Logo Reproduction

Perhaps your reading for comprehension skills are not as developed as they might be. What part of 'indeterminate' do you not understand? One more time, I'll type slowly try to follow along. Since the original image is indeterminate any vector interpretation of that image is merely someone's...
  15. Logo Reproduction

No one no how uses quick trace. At least anyone who wants to be taken seriously. You no doubt are patting yourself on the back but before you break your arm doing so you might want to cognizant of a couple of facts. First the thing you called a 'logo' is utterly indeterminate as to exactly what...
  16. Color matching without a million printed swatches

As others have suggested print a Pantone chart and use it to find the closest match. If you have a tweener between two colors choose the darker of the two. If a tweener and either the light or the dark sample just won't do then create two rectangles. Fill one with the lighter color, fill the...
  17. Corel draw X8 vs Adobe Cloud Since New Software Updates

Nonsense. There is no standard, just whatever works for you. Many feel that Adobe is some sort of standard [as well as Apple tackle]. This because virtually every school still uses Adobe and Apple and never mentions that there are many other solutions, each one the equal to the Apple/Adobe...
  18. Need Help Print and cut issues

Try using the manual bomb sight marks and the plotter's light pointer for registration. It's reasonably foolproof. Or, if you feel adventurous you might try using manual marks. Do the following... On your artwork make a bounding rectangle around the image to be contour cut. For simplicity...
  19. Suggestions Is the summa tangential plotter a better plotter? Easier weeding and workflow?

Consider that the mechanism that works satisfactorily with the fewest moving parts might be the superior mechanism. Note that I avoid tiny and/or hideously complicated cutting jobs like the plague. The trick is to do them some other way or just not do them at all. Much easier than spending an...
  20. Who's the Bigger Problem?

Nonsense. If anyone needs a bit of education it would be yourself and others of the same bent. The original question is bogus. It assumes that either or both of the propositions pose a problem. Therefore, if not equal, then one must be larger than the other. The premise of the question is...
