  1. Windows 7 "User Control Account" settings

Colin, I am afraid that I won't be much help here. Almost nothing lags on my computer, ever. On your system, it could very easily be UAC, but on mine, the horsepower overcomes the lag. Even though it is quite capable, I have dumped IE for Chrome and/or Firefox, depending on which way the wind...

I am a long time user of Belarc Advisor. It is an awesome tool for anyone with a computer.
  3. virus questions

I use FREE anti-virus/anti-malware (MSE). I set it and forget it. It updates and scans without a thought. It takes less than 5 minutes to download and install. I am careful where I surf and stay away from trouble areas on the web. I look at it like traveling in the real world, there are...
  4. Windows 7 "User Control Account" settings

Windows 7 UAC isn't really that big of a deal. I leave mine at the notch 2nd from the top (default). I rarely have to "OK" anything. It's not the annoying nag it was in Vista. I don't notice a lag in IE either (although computers may not be equally equipped).
  5. thinking about going to the apple side

I thought that I was out of this one too, but this is ridiculous. I have read many, many PC threads on this very forum (and others) where a Mac owner has piped up about how their Mac is better when no one really asked them. Please don't kid yourself, this kind of thinking goes both ways.
  6. thinking about going to the apple side

No worries here at all. I appreciate that you are passionate about your opinion. I just didn't want to be misunderstood in my position. I believe that when threads start to take an emotional turn, it becomes very easy to read something that isn't really there. I know that I have been guilty...
  7. thinking about going to the apple side

I don't know that he is a fool. I just don't like someone putting words in my mouth. He has the right to like whatever he wants and I think that he know why he like his Mac and is not one of the people that I am talking about. I just have to wonder why he likes twisting my words into...
  8. thinking about going to the apple side

I have never said that Windows is BETTER than OSX. I simply said that I preferred Windows UI and I did list reasons why. I believe that my whole intention has been to put them on equal ground. Where did I say that Windows was better than OSX? I think that is just what you took from my posts...
  9. thinking about going to the apple side

Really? That is what you got out of that? I see, we are out of real arguments and points, so we are going into my personality. Sweet. I guess that you are at the end of your rope. It also looks like you have resorted to taking my quote out of context and removing the words that you don't...
  10. thinking about going to the apple side

Yeah, please don't confuse me with or lump me in with this type of argument.
  11. thinking about going to the apple side

I can agree with you there. For the record, I don't believe that I have ever said Macs are too expensive, talked about my BMW, coffee, or beer. If I ever try and convince you that you need a lifted FJ Cruiser that sucks gas like no other, please bash me with a big stick.
  12. thinking about going to the apple side

I deleted my earlier post because it seemed to ruffle YOUR feathers and it was not intended to, nothing more. Can you honestly tell me that you don't beleive that there is a great number of people who buy Mac (or any Apple product) because of the hype or feeling of pride, status, superiority...
  13. thinking about going to the apple side

That may be the case on that particular thread, but I cannot count how many times I have seen "get a Mac" (or similar) in response to a PC related thread. This kind of response exists on both sides. It is just less prevalent now that OSX isn't being compared to a 9 year old OS (XP) anymore and...
  14. thinking about going to the apple side

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Not once did I say that people on the Mac side don't get stuff done. You are twisting my words for your own benefit. I said that I use my computer to get stuff done. I did imply that there are those on the Mac side that choose a Mac, not for its capabilities, but for the...
  15. thinking about going to the apple side

I agree with most of this. I didn't say "faster" search, did I? I said, "2nd to none", which implies at least equal to. You are right, no benchmarks, just very impressive. You are right, same results, just different ways of going about it. And in the case of graphic design, same result and...
  16. thinking about going to the apple side

Oh come on. There are just so many uneducated statements made about Windows (PCs) from Apple users, that eventually, it gets a little old. "My Mac can do this, and this, and doesn't get this", seriously? I try and not post too many opinionated things here, but lately, I can barely hold in the...
  17. thinking about going to the apple side

Hmmm... are you running Windows 7 or any earlier version of Windows next to your Mac? I have used both OSX and Windows 7 and I personally believe that Windows 7 user interface is better and more productive than OSX. I prefer Aero Shake to any keybaord shortcuts. Windows 7 search bar (Start...
