  1. Contour Cut

If you are just cutting then there is no need to worry about the contour cutting option, like Fred said, thats only for when you are trying to print and then cut afterwards. All you need to do is select you text, and the select the cut/plot option and your golden.
  2. What Size Cutter?

In age order Summa T1010 - 10 this year Roland PC600 - Though I never used it as just a cutter Mimaki CG-130FX - Nice to be able to do 48" jobs in one peice now Flatbed cutter WILL be purchased in when we get our next printer.
  3. Contour Cut

Are you trying to print and cut something, or are you just trying to cut your letters out of reagular vinyl??
  4. Summa Vs. Graphtec

I am deeply trenched in the Summa camp, but if I had to get another brand of plotter it would be a Graphtec. As for the tangentinal cutting, its great for when you are doing small lettering, and the corners are a lot cleaner, especially on small tips. I think I got spoiled when it comes to...
  5. Shadow effects - again

The nice thing about doing it with the shadow module, is that if you need to change something with the text, you won't have to go through and redo the shadow.
  6. Advice on cutter...

I say Summa too, got ours ten years ago and wouldn't trade it for anything, except a new Summa.
  7. Flexi production manager over a network

I get the same lock-ups that you are talking about, I don't have to reboot the computers, just shut down the PM and Flexi, then restart each. Its quite annoying I know, especially when I am ripping a large job to print and I lose all of that. Just another problem with the several thousand dollar...
  8. Flexi vs. Signlab I just bought a Versacam and need to buy one or the other.

I argue whether or not VMP can do everything else the others do. For someone who has been using scanvec products for 9 years, trying out VMP, it was just lacking something. VMP does have some nice features that they couple with the software that Flexi would be wise to do also.
  9. Mimaki JV3-75SPII

That I don't know, there are several 3rd party ink systems out for that machines larger siblings that are more true of a solvent. When we were looking at the machines, what I was getting was that the Roland inks were considered an eco-solvent that was oil based, where as the Mimaki was a mild...
  10. Mimaki JV3-75SPII

The size may be new but its basically the same machine that I have here in my shop. We looked at Roland and Mimaki machines last year when we bought ours, and the Roland inks just didn't hold up as well as the Mimaki inks did. Also, theres the cutting methods. Yes, with the Roland it is all in...
  11. Flexi Pro Rip error with big files

Has it happened to me, yep, today even, do I have a definite solution, nope. Today it happened with a psd file, saved in Photoshop 7, and it had layers. I resaved the image in Photoshop, after flattening it, and it ripped fine. I don't think that layers is the problem because I have done...
  12. Contour cutting

Would you explain how you are contour cutting, and with what equipment. When I contour cut on our CG-130FX, all I need is about 2 inches extra. Post a little more information and someone here should be able to help you.
  13. WinXP & Flexi

I asked my distributor about WinXP 64 and he wasn't much help, I'll go ahead and do the e-support link that you posted but I would put more faith in it working if I heard it from a user rather than from Scanvec. In the past we have had problems with their software doing what they said it could...
  14. WinXP & Flexi

Has anyone tried the new WinXP 64 and Flexi? I am looking at a new computer and have thought about going that route, just wondered how well the two work together.
  15. Color Printer Questions

Printers starting at over $50,000 for the most part. Its a toss up between UV and solvent right now I believe. We are looking ourselves into trading our year old JV3 in on a flatbed UV printer later this year or next. I know the Colorspan and one other company makes flatbed printers in the sub...
  16. Contour Cut Problem

Can you just select the rectangle and apply the contour to it?
  17. Flexi alternatives for Wide Format Printing and Contour Cutting

Onyx or Wasatch are two I can think of, and I believe that both of them have a contour cutting feature as well. We currently use the dreaded Flexi, its all in opinion on what you like to use. I have used Onyx in the past with our old Colorspan with good results, and we are looking at...
  18. Flexi 7.5 w/photoshop ?'s

We run PS 7 here along with Flexi 7.5, haven't had any problems, my only complaint is that I would like Flexi to be a little quicker about opening/processing image files in general. With Scanvec being so big about wide format printing, I would think that they could make Flexi a little more...
  19. AMD64 or P4

Just something I wanted to add, I just built a A64 2800+ system for my sister, the thing never got above 40c doing continuous benchmarks, with the AMD cooler. My personnal rig is a 2500+ XP Barton core and the thing runs at 45c idling.
  20. Plasma Cutters

Look at www.scorpiodesigns.us, he came down and trained me on the software for the machine that both of us run. I haven't used our plasma cutter attachment yet, but he does and has done some pretty awesome stuff.
