  2. Upgrading computer - how much do I need?

I would do something that JM eluded too. Get a new computer to do your design work on and run your SP300 off of your current computer. That way your new computer won't be tied up with ripping your print jobs. And yes you can design and rip on the same computer at the same time, but in the end...
  3. Looking for a Reflective to print on.

Best suggestion I have for you is forget about the "solvent ready" reflectives. Several users on these boards have had good luck with the regular 3M reflective materials. 90% of the time I use 3M 3200 series, I occassionaly pull out the 680 series if its going on a vehicle.
  4. I have a Dell. Please stop laughing.

Been using Firefox and Thunderbird here for the past year, nice alternatives to IE and Outlook. Especially love the tabbed browsing of Firefox. As for Norton, there was something a while back that Norton was interfering with on my computer, something was messing with Outlook Express so I...
  5. I have a Dell. Please stop laughing.

I agree, Mozilla is your friend. And avoid anything Norton.
  6. I have a Dell. Please stop laughing.

All the more reason why I build everything myself. I'm looking forward to a fun weekend. I will have all of the components for our second computer we are building tomorrow. Its identical to one I have already built, so I'm going to run them side by side and see which one I can push farther...
  7. I have a Dell. Please stop laughing.

If you have the ability and knowledge too, I say building the computer yourself is the best way to go. AMD Athlon X2 4200+ Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI G.Skill 4GB Ram Gigabyte 6600GT 128mb Seagate 80GB SATAII x2 Seagate 250GB SATAII x2 LG DVD+RW LG DVD-ROM Floppy Case Antec SilentPower...
  8. Flexi on a Local Network

Brian- To let you know, running the Production Manager and the core Flexi program on seperate computers is what I consider an intergral part of the setup that Scanvec allows. Unless you were running a dual processor or dual core computer, ripping a file and trying to work on your next job on...
  9. Flexi on a Local Network

Checkers - Are you suggesting that what we are discussing is illegal??
  10. Flexi on a Local Network

Steve heres my opinion on sharing files. Don't share the whole drive, just share the folders that you job files are in, there isn't any reason for one computer to be able to see or access another computers windows directory for example. And yes you can be designing in the core Flexi program...
  11. Flexi on a Local Network

Thats how I do it, you can also run the key on the computer running Flexi, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have a problem with Flexi getting upset at times, and if it would randomly shut down while I was printing a job, guess what, job lost. But for anyone running a printer, they honestly need...

It'll make a big difference too depending on the dither type that you use.
  13. Font ID

Anyone have an idea on the font from the business card??
  14. Windows XP 64

I run the dongle and Production Manager on another computer, that runs XP Pro, so I figured that wouldn't be a problem. I'll be downloading a trial so I am really not out anything, other than just having to reinstall WinXP Pro if it doesn't work.
  15. Windows XP 64

Just wanting to check if anyone here was running Windows XP 64 yet?? I have a new computer coming in this week, and I was just thinking about installing the WinXP 64 trial you can download first to see how Flexi and Photoshop run.
  16. A suggestion for anyone getting a new computer . . .

OP - Sorry but I just checked there and I couldn't find the MP processors that I need, they do have Semprons but as far as I know they won't work for me. Its hard when you try to continue to use older technology after new things come out. I just hate the idea of ditching the entire core of...
  17. A suggestion for anyone getting a new computer . . .

They were Athlon XP processors, forgot which core they were. But for a brief history lesson, the only difference between XP (single processor) and the Athlon MPs (dual processor) chips was extra testing that AMD did on the chips, and a bridge that was cut on the surface of the cpu. For a time...
  18. A suggestion for anyone getting a new computer . . .

get a dual-core. Two years ago we got our JV3 and I built a new computer that was used as my design station. I built a dual processor computer and I could really tell the difference at the time over the single processor computer I had been using. Over the past two years I think I started...
  19. Need help. New drive/rip system

Are you looking for something to build yourself, or are you wanting a pre-built rig??
  20. Need help. New drive/rip system

First off, go AMD, more power for you money, I don't know that dual core will actually do you any good with the rip software you will be using. Go with at least 2gigs of ram, and get your memory in pairs, meaning if you want 2 gigs, buy two 1 gig sticks. You don't need anything expensive for a...
