  1. New Printer

5+ litres is more accurate. I've heard of some going 20+... Latex heads are about $100, and figured into the ink cost. Latex ink is ~$110 for 750ml. Most OEM Ecosol is ~$125 for 440ml.
  2. HP FB700 Purchase

That sucks Forge. HP's service is definitely a weak spot for them. We've been fortunate enough to not have many issues. The big issue that we had took longer than acceptable to fix.
  3. Planning for Emergencies

Like Pete, we have over 20 employees. I was just thinking about this the other day, as 4 out of 5 days a week, at least one person is out for one reason or another. We are continually planning for an absense and others are absorbing that person's workload on a daily basis.
  4. Planning for Emergencies

We have a pretty well defined hierarchy here, and our business functions for the most part while Jason and I are absent. Smaller businesses might not have that luxury. Planning for the owner's absense is a must, whether it be for an unexpected necessary trip, death, or just a vacation. One...

    $0.38 now?
  6. Fred: VIRUS ALERT

I tried logging into s101 yesterday from my laptop at home. Apparently I didn't have an up to date antivirus on it because it killed my computer.. We had put all of our computers (including laptops) on TrendMicro a few years ago and then switched over to Symantec. I guess my laptop never got...

    Thank you guys!
  8. Fred: VIRUS ALERT

I got the trojan message below when loading the s101 homepage and then again while trying to view another thread. Popped up again while uploading the photo.. http://www.signs101.com/photopost/showfull.php?photo=4700

  10. HP FB500 Leftover ink in boxes

From what I've been told, they overfill the carts. You can leave them in past zero, and eventually the machine will make you replace them. Keep an eye on them, as we've had them go the other way too--where the machine says there's plently left but the cart is actually empty.
  11. HP FB700 Purchase

The white's going to depend on your needs.. I just wouldn't recommend going back and forth. Waste of time & $$$. We've had a bunch of jobs that could've used white, but we had to come up with other ways of doing it instead. Also, like supersm is saying, don't get the roll to roll option...

You've got to narrow it down. Print until you see the problem again. Immediately stop, do a test print, and visually inspect the heads by moving them over to the service side. Post the pics. Actually seeing what is going on will help us diagnose the problem.
  13. How do multiple rolls of vinyl come in from your supplier?

I think I know who you're refering to, as we get rolls shipped in the same manner. Most of what we order from these guys comes from the local warehouse via courier, but we haven't had the issues you mention when we do receive the end on end shipments. No more than the usual UPS damage anyways...
  14. I have 4 L25500's Left for $11k

    I'll take one.
  15. HP FB700 Purchase

I'm in the same boat as SignManiac. FB950 that runs quite a bit. One major issue that HP took almost two weeks to fix, I fixed at a local machine shop for $15. I'd go with white, no Lc/Lm and leave it that way.

3M 3950 Edge Sealer is the way to go.

Like Jack said, you don't need pumps. Although the name sounds like they're pumping ink for printing, they're not. After you're seeing the "ink starvation", stop the printer, bring the heads over to the service side, and look at the face of the heads. Are you seeing ink accumulation...
  18. Room temperature for laminating

The lows would worry me more than the highs. Could you do a small space heater to bring the temps up some?
  19. Man I am really struggling, trying to make a decision

In all honesty, I wouldn't buy anything at this point if I were you. I know that's not what you want to hear, but you're better off saving up more money or securing more financing to purchase the right machine. At the volume you're doing, it shouldn't take long to save up $80k and buy a better...
  20. Man I am really struggling, trying to make a decision

Depends on the router/cut program.. most will adjust for skew & stretch.
