  1. Office entry sign

I would like to agree with this, and in the case of this sign, yeah, you give the client what they want, have them sign off on the ADA liability issue and move on... But clients do not control building and zoning codes. I am going through code hell where the client wants 8 monument signs...
  2. RANT: Hey there "Signs of the Times" magazine (ST Publications) WTH???

I tried looking for Sign of the Times circulation... kinda thinking it's hard enough selling to sign people, let alone the new artist learning the trade. I have never seen an ST Media book at a book store, so purchasing these books were not really available to the general public. The ones I...
  3. Office entry sign

I wouldn't take it so hard... one thing is... you know the whole story, we don't, so when we observe something, it might not be true... AND/OR ...it might be for your and others benefit. I know how you feel, I just got handed my are by 5 big wig property management/architects/interior...

  5. Help with this effect

    I remember this post... http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?13687-Help-with-Graphics-Effect&p=125141#post125141
  6. Anyone Know

Besides PATHFINDER to make the shapes.... Looks like TRANSPARENCY - namely MULTIPLY and/or some percentage of transparency as well as EFFECT > STYLIZE > INNER GLOW and maybe even a gradient or 2 with MULTIPLY on.
  7. Office entry sign

I agree, I can also see a little of the white light bleeding into the red, a baffle would take care of it. Hot spots on the white, I also would have intentionally halo illuminated it or baffled the lighting. The light leaking on the sides looks like a mistake or accidental effect... The other...
  8. New Member in Northern Ca, gearing up.

I agree with Leluni, the Summa "T" series will cut the thick stuff like butter, and they are very well built.
  9. Affinity Designer for Mac

I can't see how this could replace Illustrator for me, the layers are not up to Illustrators. I also need to design in scale, the CadTools plug in don't work for Affinity. But for 50 bucks, it has some very cool shape tools... worth having... though I so rarely use it because I'm always in...
  10. perfect afternoon

I can't even look at my own butt... if I was in my monkey suit, it would be crimson buttocks... Now I can can see OP's package in my head and wondering if he smells like graham crackers and shame.
  11. perfect afternoon

For those having the weekend (or afternoon) off, kiss my furry pitted buttock!
  12. Framed aluminum with a curved profile to match the building

I'd kerf cut it too, anyway... as boring as a project typeface is, I'd propose a project typeface. Some retail business who use a script or images may find it a little hard wrapping their dimensional logo on a curve like that.
  13. How was this sign made?

One would hope that's Micarta, but looks more like some off brand. I looked up Regal Plastics and US plastics and they have similar panels but you might have to get samples to match.
  14. How was this sign made?

Looks like a phenolic panel/sheet to me. Especially if it looks like it has not been painted.
  15. Question regarding equipment for new startup..

If you are brave enough, and have a thick skin, I suggest posting your designs for critique. We can be a bit rough, but quite a few of us can give you suggestions, some will even show you in a layout.... It really is worth the sting if you really want to learn.
  16. Silverdome International Design Competition

I just saw the jurors... http://1200featherstone.com/jurors/ 2 have wikipedia entries, all are architects of some experience. Why don't they get off their arse and do it... betting they are getting paid more than the winner... by the way, from now on, I want to be known as Ricardo Ponce...
  17. Installations in the City...Union?

The facility would have something in place for that... the few times I have dealt with that, it required union installers, others were okay with prevailing wage.
  18. Silverdome International Design Competition

I just realized, since were never gonna get a football team they can have our ideas.... and you can bet someone got paid for this, and it ain't even gonna happen... Gimme my 3 g's!
  19. Silverdome International Design Competition

The absolute simple fact... The only one that benefits is the person/company running the contest. 3g's is chump change and the majority of entrants will get what they deserve... Reading all that, you would think they would supply plans, a development plan to help someone get started...
  20. Question regarding equipment for new startup..

I would say both are capable, it's a matter of preference. Both sides have an opinion which is best or easier. If you have CC and have invested a considerable amount of time, I would stick with it. Do you have any graphic design skills? If not, you might want to invest in a Signcraft...
