  1. Custom Rugs - Is there a market?

These are all mass produced entry mats. I'm more interested in doing the high-end, one of a kind inlay/carved stuff. The rugs I offer will be more geared toward trade shows, homes, and high-end businesses. Not that I'm stuck up or anything. :)
  2. Custom Rugs - Is there a market?

I was wondering about this. I was at a local home show over the weekend and noticed that even there, many booths had nice rugs, and some had custom rugs in the company colors and saw at least one with a logo in it. So maybe trade show companies should be my target market...
  3. Custom Rugs - Is there a market?

Thanks for your comments Sarah. I would like to market these logo rugs nationwide with an internet presence. So they would be custom ordered and shipped.
  4. Custom Rugs - Is there a market?

Do you think there would be a market these days for custom rugs and logo rugs? This is an idea I've been toying with for a while. I actually ended up purchasing all of the tools and equipment to start making these a while back. But the idea fell by the wayside as I got involved in other...

  7. Logo Design - Starting in B/W

Thanks all for the comments. I think I've decided to go with the circle to keep more of an icon/logo look. Here's another using the suggestion of taking part of the 'N' to form the '!'. I liked the quirky original '!' but I'm sort of leaning toward this cleaner one now.
  8. Freelance design and Merchant Membership

I also did the MM for a while offer freelance services and it was great. Should work well for you Arlo.
  9. Freelance design and Merchant Membership

Yep, this is pretty exciting to hear. Its so cool to me how in this age of digital printers, wacom tablets, and vector programs that something as simple as a paint brush and a can of one shot can be so thrilling.
  10. Logo Design - Starting in B/W

    Jill, you're brilliant!
  11. Logo Design - Starting in B/W

Well, I have been working on this logo off and on the last week, but in color. I decided after Joe's post to scrap the color and go to just B/W. I might just stick to one color on this, since I'm going for an old-school feel.
  12. Freelance design and Merchant Membership

Arlo, we eagerly await the opportunity to see your expertise. lexsigns, I guess I should have said that it's gaining a 'cult' comeback. There are still people out there looking for the friendly, warm look of hand painted signs. www.creativesignmakers.com is forum with a bunch of guys painting...
  13. Freelance design and Merchant Membership

Duuuuude! I was hoping you were going to say that. Arlo, do it! There is NOTHING out there for us who want to learn hand lettering. I just finally contacted a local guy that still does hand painting. I'm hopefully going to spend a day with him so he can get me going with my quills and One Shot...

  16. 4 over

I know it seems like 4 over takes a lot of heat sometimes. And maybe rightfully so, I don't know. But I do have to say that I have had nothing but good service from that company. I'm not one of the 'high-tier' members. I'm about as low as you can get on their pie chart of loyalty (which is...
  17. Need a logo designed

Just to clarify... I choose not to do work of a religious nature because I feel strongly about my own personal religious beliefs. I'm not anti-religion or a communist or anything. Just a personal choice. :)
  18. Brush Question - Waterbased paint

Thanks guys. Those Mack brushes were recommended by another sign guy too. I guess I was just hoping to work with what I have available. But I'll save my quills for lettering enamel then. :)
  19. Brush Question - Waterbased paint

I'm working on a couple interior faux antiqued signs. I have a couple of Blick Gray Squirrel quills. Can I use these with waterbased paint? I was thinking of trying the Ronan Aquacote or maybe just an acrylic house paint. Has anyone used this before for lettering work? I'm not a sign...
