  1. Any other sites to find used printers?

Does anyone know of any other sites or resources to find a used eco-solvent printer? The current things I know about are Ebay - Craigslist and the Signs101 classified section. Any other sites or ideas that someone might have? We're just looking for something like a used valuejet, falcon...
  2. FedEx or UPS?

I worked for Kinko's... FedEx Kinko's... FedEx Office.... for a total of 14 years. Try getting a quote online with your FedEx Account number and then go into any of the drop off locations and see what the price is there. Why the difference? I had a FedEx Tube going to Mexico... online it said...
  3. Customers over my shoulder, how can i stop this ?

You could post something that has to do with not letting them back because of "Customer Confidentiality". At our shop we don't mind people coming back... but we do try to make sure that certain customers sensitive materials are covered up first.
  4. Over designing signs

If someone is being easy to work with and I have the extra time I like to play and mess around with things until I feel happy about what I've come up with. Yesterday we were looking an A-frame sign we did for our neighbors and we all decided that there wasn't enough contrast to make the sign...

  7. Customer Files

we are dealing with a "Designers" pile of fun right now! You know things are just silly when the "Designer" made a logo for someone in Illustrator.... turned it into a low-res jpg.... and then placed that into another layout they were doing in Illustrator. And no, they didn't do it on purpose...
  8. Color life of aluminum sheets?

Indeed...PVC was a bad idea. The amount that it expands and contracts is quite a bit. Plus in Michigan the stuff gets really brittle in the winter. Our main large road sign is about 25' in the air and has 2 large 48" x 96" panels on each side. We will probably use red aluminum for each side...
  9. Parts on ebay from China

I've always wondered about the quality of the things you can get from China??? Like expensive print heads. I know the Chinese like to do a lot of reverse engineering. Has anyone ever bought any print heads from someone in China? If so, have they worked?
  10. Customer Files

The fine art of taking roadkill and trying to make it taste like filet mignon! :munchie: My favorite is when a person at a major corporation sends me some thumbnail sized jpg and says that is all the company has. I got this once from a MAJOR sports drink maker. Huh... you mean that the...
  11. longest print ever?

5ft x 25ft opaque scrim print on a HP z6100 at my old place of work. Nothing like making a ginormous print that loves to get scratched up even if you breathe on it wrong.
  12. I need input on an HP printer

I've done a lot of outdoor bumper stickers on HP's adhesive vinyl media and they did hold up better than I expected. One big problem that we had at the old shop that I worked at was they tried to switch to non-HP brand media that was cheaper and we had a huge problem with print head strikes...
  13. Print & cut tutorial

SWEET! I'm going to do some watching and then tomorrow I'll go and play around with stuff at work. I know I won't be able to contour cut yet... but at least I can try and figure it out ahead of time. Thanks a bunch!:thankyou:
  14. Print & cut tutorial

Does anyone know of a "How To" or a "Tutorial" on how to set up a print and cut system using two different machines (separate printer and separate vinyl plotter)? We are converting our FJ-540 to solvent and eventually like to add a separate vinyl plotter (that can read crop marks) that we can...
  15. Color life of aluminum sheets?

Wensco did mention using frog juice. I think we will definitley coat it will some type of uv clear-coat spray. I think frog juice runs about $10 per 12oz can. I know you can get it in a non-spray can too. If I had to coat 3 boards that were 48" x 96"... how much would I have to use? 1-2...
  16. I need input on an HP printer

I've used the following... 2500, 3500, 5000ps, 5500ps & Z6100ps. For Aqueous printers they're pretty nice and the print heads are fairly cheap on the 5000, 5500 & Z6100. Out of all of them that I've used, the z6100 had really nice color. It was even able to hit pantone colors better than the...
  17. Color life of aluminum sheets?

thank you for the replies.... that helps!
  18. Color life of aluminum sheets?

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone would have an idea of how long the color might last on "pre-colored" aluminum? Basically we want to order a material that is RED that we can apply cut vinyl lettering to for our outdoor signs. We originally used PVC (Sintra 3mm) and put that over our...
  19. Virus Help- Google Results are redirected

The only thing I've found that works really well on an infected system is spyware doctor with anti-virus (paid version). It's a great program for removal... but it can make a clean system slow to a crawl. I had a really good scareware virus and that was the only thing I could get to load on...
  20. Edge died

At my old work I ran a Edge 2 that had a similar problem. Mine I could get going if I turned it on and off about 30+ times... then you would finally get the head to make it's moving sound when it turned on. If I did get it working it would be alright as long as you left it on. If you turned...
