  1. Problems with importing and using an ai file in x3

I'm working on a file that was sent to me as an ai file. It comes in fine, but when I combine the objects, the background image comes to the front, and blocks the smaller images in the center of the object.:banghead: I would normally not worry about it, but the background of the file has to...
  2. Font Help, Please.

Let me rephrase the original statement... I know I know the "TIC" font, but I can't seem to think of it off hand. Anyone know? The rest I'll do in Arial... Thanks in advance, Mark
  3. Font Help, Please.

I know I know the font for the TIC. The rest, I'll do in a helvetica... Thanks in advance, Mark
  4. New Member From Nassau, Bahamas

Welcome from Maryland. I was down that way back in '89 (the year I graduated from High School). I would love to come back for a vacation.
  5. Help Choosing a Cutter

Sorry, OP, I gotta throw my pennies in the bucket... I have a Summa, and I like it better than Roland. I always had problems getting the Roland to track straight (The guy that owns it could load it straight most of the time). Also had problems with it when it had 50 yard rolls of material...
  6. Sign Rider Suggestions - Need Help

What I am reading into the picture (and I may be wrong) but you want to walk into a shop (that may be busy) with a $240 - $360 order, and you want to walk out with them in a mater of 30 min (?). I'm sorry, but most shops don't have turn around time that quick. You should expect a 2 - 3 day...

  8. How to run business out of my home...

Signcraft Pricing guide, and a copy of Estimate is about all I use. Often I'm tempted to just shoot a price, but It does make the customer feel a bit better when I start the program, and enter all the info, and it spits out a price. As far as working out of the house, you will need some...
  9. estimating software

I have Estimate, and its pretty good. I do like the fact that it has a spreadsheet where you can enter all your company expenses, and it will tell you how much you need to charge on a per hour basis. The hardest part is when you enter the specs for the sign, beliving the cost it tells you.
  10. Combining letters into one object

I just went back and re-read what your saying. When you look at the finished image, you seem to have "lost" the centers of the b. When you look at it in wire frame, they are still there. Sounds like they were not part of the combigned image. Can you select just the centers and move them, or...
  11. Combining letters into one object

Sounds like one of the paths is not closed. Your going through a lot of trouble to do something simple. Instead of editing the nodes, place the objects right were you want them, select them both, and choose the weld option (under arrange>shaping ). Much simpler and quicker than editing...
  12. Corel and cutting method

I use Corel 13 to design and cut from. Summa came with a disk that installs a plugin that sends the job to the cutter. If I were going to upgrade, I would get CoCut. It has the ability to add horizontal and vertical weed lines. (My plug in will only do a weed box).
  13. Quickbooks invoice to PDF? How?

If it's free, it's for me.:Big Laugh Seriously. Thank you. I am using an old version (QB Pro '02) and it doesn't even have the option to send as pdf. I always had to print it, then scan it. Major pita. I had thought about upgrading, but I don't need anything else, so this worked out...
  14. best way to eliminate unwanted cut lines in X3?

I disagree. You will loose too much detail. You already have it in vector, why go throught all that trouble. If I were willing to go through that much trouble, I'd export it as eps, and do it in CasMate, but your just as well to do it in corel Slightly tedious...I think it would only take...
  15. best way to eliminate unwanted cut lines in X3?

first thought is you have some double lines in the boarder that you don't need. Break it all apart, and start deleting. Then you will want to weld the overlaps, and you should be pretty much done.
  16. Corel X3 Shadowing Questions

http://www.unleash.com/coreldrawx3unleashed/index.asp is a full learning book for X3. I have been looking at it, but just haven't shelled out for it. I did get a tutorial on making letters look like chrome, and while it was complete, it was confusing in the way it was written. I read thought...
  17. Gerber router gone nuts!!!

I am running a small ARB (660?) Gerber Router (27" x 48" table size) through Omega, using Artpath to drive this thing. I've only used it a couple of times, and everything I route comes out too small. I got it from a friend, and he came over last night and told me that it is a problem with the...
  18. sign tools 3 with corel x3

because for some reason I have never been able to do a true outline in corel. I have asked the question, and been given the answer on how to do it, but it never seemed to work right (plus it was 8 or 9 steps long)... Then it was easier to send to co cut and go that rout, but it was still a...
  19. sign tools 3 with corel x3

Yeah, but with signtools it is easier, ie less steps. I'm using it, and I like it for the fact that it will do a true vector outline or inline (in only 3 easy clicks...open program, select outline, select distance) With Roland you don't need Co-Cut (I think). You can set it up to...
  20. Laptop questions...

Thanks for the tip. I did just that, and found: Vostro 1700 Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 (2.4GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB), but with Vista Business. When I quoted it out, I opted for the 4 MB of ram, 4 year warranty, 4 year accidental damage, and an upgraded 9 cell battery. The total...
