  1. Looking for JV4 Mechanical Drawing

    here you go.
  2. Are big names over rated ?

i've spent the last three days looking and getting quotes on chinese printers and such. i'm noticing a lot of standardization. there are really only a few basic chassis designs. it seems, because the chinese are smart, there is a gantry manufacturer mass producing gantries, a capping station...
  3. mutoh 1304 resolution question

@robertm ...they aren't (most aren't) off brand printers. they are stock mutoh's, jv33's, 9880's right out of the box. i suppose they maybe get a special deal from the manufacturer to not ship the take up reel or stand. and i'd be mostly running my own coatings, about 10% of the time, i'd do...
  4. Error 7 code

the problem is with a data swap you need a good head or channel to compare to a bad head or channel. the asterisks all the way across show that all of the heads or channels are bad. it looks like it could be really bad. the whole thing is very sad. you could pull the slider board (very...
  5. need carving software recommendation

i'm needing some advice on converting black and white solid maybe half tones raster images into .dxf, .hpgl, .plt, .dwg, etc. i'm going to use the files to print solid "fills" on an inkjet plotter. four head black only. (this is a garment industry plotter that only accepts vector files...
  6. how to print solid fills on a cad plotter?

i hope there are some inkjet plotter gurus out here. i am in the market to buy a cad plotter (84" garment inkjet plotter with 4 HP45 cartridges). i spoke with a couple sales people on different models. the knowledgeable ones (seemed knowledgeable) say "sure you can print vector solids". but...
  7. dx5 flatbeds (solvent and uv)

i don't plan on using uv ink or even solvent ink in any of them. i will be using my own mild solvent acid resist ink. so adhesion is just based on it sticking to the aluminum during etching, then that gets stripped off with jasco.
  8. Error 7 code

keep the thread going. there is a very good knowledge base here on the forum. hope you the best
  9. Mimaki Head error 007

do you need that last paragraph rephrased, or do you get the general idea?
  10. Error 7 code

who the hell is doing your service? you replace a main board because of an error 07? tell that guy to get out of your shop before something really bad happens. (wait, something bad did happen). look up some recent threads on data swapping. that is how you figure out where the 07 is coming...
  11. in the market for an 84" solvent printer.

i'm looking to go 84" specifically. i've located an 84" wide cnc table that will be gutting for the project. i did find a xerox 8290 so far. that would do. but it's decommissioned in a warehouse with no way to discuss the state of the printer before being mothballed. also, if anyone can...
  12. in the market for an 84" solvent printer.

i am leaning toward just building my own flatbed conversion. it just looks to simple to not do it here in the states. american dollars paying americans, kind of thing. my printer size needs to be 84" wide. the only japanese makes of printers that i know at that width were some mutoh...
  13. Mimaki Head error 007

no way to tell without a data swap. i guess you are running dual cmyk? if so, you would move the top yellow data ribbon (on the slider board) to the top cyan port. put the bottom yellow ribbon at the bottom cyan port. now put the top cyan ribbon on the top yellow port, and the bottom cyan...
  14. Mimaki Head error 007

if you don't know what a data swap is or can't tell immediately by the rendering, i would not recommend that you do one. it port printer data to different heads to isolate if a board or head is malfunctioning.
  15. Mimaki Head error 007

    your error 07 doesn't look like _ _ _ _ * _ _ _ or whatever?
  16. reviving a JV3

you can't hurt the heads by just plugging them in. keep in mind the heads get hot. so a clogged head that stays clogged gets worse because of the heat. i'd just do a test print and start soaking. also get a small syringe (like for allergy shots), and put a couple of drips into one of the...
  17. reviving a JV3

there's a chance that even though it was flushed you will have problems. maybe. as soon as you get the printer in, start doing a head soak for a couple of days.
  18. On 'Nozzle Test' print my RJ6100 is flooding paper with solid black

what the head color configuration on that printer? what type of heads? last time i saw two color stripe like that it was a fried board on an fj50.
  19. Mimaki Head error 007

yes you can do a data swap. if you do it wrong you will mess us the printer. if you do it right no biggy. the printer is oblivious to the swap. remember even though this can isolate if the data or the head is bad, it doesn't isloate if the ribbon is bad. so you still may want to even...
  20. On 'Nozzle Test' print my RJ6100 is flooding paper with solid black

you probably have a loose data cable or bad head. maybe bad cable. being that there was in impact, it's should be the head. attached is a photo of my printer with a loose black cable.
