+1 for bitstream....i've been using it since corel 3 (i think that's the first corel version i worked with)
  2. Getting hosed by a supplier

its not misleading, if you never asked if they'd be picking up the freight costs... i would call the supplier and explain the situation....i've found that if you're not a hot head about it, nine out of ten times, they will work with you...if it's their fault (which, by account, it is), they...
  3. envision plotter cutting crisis

like signage, i would suggest a quick clean on everything....also, are all the cables connected fully...maybe cut information isn't sending properly... do you only have the problem when sending long repeat cut runs? or do you have the problem with smaller single jobs?

impact or compacta.....i'm leaning towards compacta...the lettering looks stretched to hell though

  12. Anyone have any customer service training...

have the csr shadow your production guys...a week with each...sounds like the easiest way to solve the problem...no matter what you do though, the new csr won't be able to answer any question thrown at them...as long as they have a good base and can answer the basic questions prompted by...
  13. Wind slit placement

i agree about not doing the wind slits, but it may not be the customer requesting the slits...depending on where the banners are going.... i did two 3ft x 25ft street banners last year that the city refused to put up until wind slits were cut in them....it's actually in the specs given out by...
  14. Explain your avatar / name

avatar is deadpool...the awesomest comic character ever!! i've always loved wolves, and fenris is the wolf that starts ragnarok in norse/teutonic mythology...i've been using 242 so long, i don't even remember where it came from, but i'm not getting rid of it now!
  15. White on clear vinyl decal?

i'd go with the edge....especially since you also have the option of printing spot colors and not just full color....i love my edge!
  16. substrates

cheap does not equate to quality...sell him coro with 651 on it.... have you already given the guy a price?? if so, how can you price a job out if you don't know what substrate you're going on?
  17. substrates

knowing how long the signage is expected to last plays a key role in both the substrate you'll be using as well as the grade of vinyl you'll be applying to the substrate.... if this is a perm. sign, then i'd suggest alumalite...but depending on where it will be installed, if it's going to be at...
  18. substrates

how long is the signage expected to last?
  19. has anyone used this stuff before? good/bad

i've used the colorprint for specialtymaterials as well...i print on an edge, so i'm already limited to size.... the material prints great and holds up very well...but is heavy on the shirt, and feels like a patch/transfer....if doing single color design work, i would suggest using stahls...
