  1. keeping lamination straight

Many times people attribute the laminate to creeping or walking off, but in actuality it's the print that is not loaded in straight. I usually print a straight line across the media if the print edges are irregular and measure from there to the roller and tape it onto the leader once it's on...
  2. Installing 6'x4' PVC sheets on a painted gymnasium wall...

There's much more than moisture that can affect the flatness of a board. PVC boards are notorious for thermal expansion and contraction. Gatorboard, bening a laminated product is much more dimensionally stable. Not to mention lighter in case the afore mentioned and initial inquiry of this...
  3. Painting 1″ thick letters gatorboard (ultraboard)

I would give the back side the same treatment as the face side. I'm not sure about Ultraboard, but I've seen other foam boards warp from uneven tensions on the two faces - especially when out in the sun.

  9. Windows 7 64 bit and Versaworks problem

In my experience it will work most times, but when it doesn't you're on your own. Most of the time, when there are problems, it relates to networking with the printers. I don't think there's been a problem with visual appearance of the program, unless the screen resolution isn't high enough...
  10. Hp Latex 360 Prints Grainy

2 points here - solvent inks would be less susceptible to an oil based issue (plasticizer) than a water based ink (latex) and I've seen this cause problems on solvent printers as well, however with was on some 2 year old banner material. It appears that HP has put it's research power into this...
  11. Fuzzy Prints on VG540

Is the carriage in the high or low position. If it is calibrated for one and you're printing in the other, it will really throw things off.
  12. Little help from L5x0 owners

Well, I have a 365, not a 500 series. Parts are the same, but the firmware is different. Mine does not do that on the first pass, nor any others that I observed. I also do not have that marking on the cleaning cloth. Not the same machine, but similar. I hope this helps.
  13. Little help from L5x0 owners

Hmmm... I get the point, but this is wiping the heads, which are replaced on a regular basis. Is this still the original maintenance cartridge? I wonder if a new one would do that. I'll print something and watch what happens. BTW - the link says that the video is unavailable.
  14. Edge Fx Squeals at Me!

Most likely the lead screw that lowers the foil caddy. Remove the foil and you should see a black screw about 3/8 to 1/2" diameter. Put a small amount of white lithium grease on it, wipe off the excess with a lint free rag and the sound should go away. Gerber recommends some other grease which...

  17. Need Help Errors

Are you using ink jet vinyl or just regular translucent vinyl? This makes a big difference. Can you share a picture of the speckling? Usually when it's random spots, there's contamination of some kind. Machine problems tend to show up as more regular issues - usually linear in nature.

  19. Mutoh Printer keeps turning itself off - please help!

If you bought it last April, as in 2 months ago, this should be under warranty and a tech should be out there taking care of it. Or was this 14 months ago? Or was there some clause when you bought it due to your location?
  20. FlexiSign Pro 10 Media Profiles

The yellow exclamation mark simply means that you're choosing settings that were not used when the profile was created. But if you're using material other than what the profile was created for, that's the same so, if it looks good to you, that's what matters. As GaSouthpa says, there's a lot...
