I wonder how you guys with the L3xx version without profiling capabilities or offline profiling capabilities are making it if you have firmware .08 or newer. Seems almost all profiles out there to be found were made with older than .08 firmware which will not give correct color with .08 or newer...
I agree. I still don't see why HP limited these printer like they did. We need to be able to set higher ink densities at 10 pass and lower, and configuring it as a contone device only is very limiting. No chance of controlling light ink curves or maximizing ink limits per substrate...
At 8 pass what is your optimizer set to?
At 8 pass are you using CMYK only and not CMYKcm?
Lowest optimizer setting you can get away with and CMYK only, plus making your own linearization and profile will get you much closer to the red you want. Also consider 10 pass because you can use 120%...
Why would you think that? LC/LM/LK does nothing to increase gamut. With the addition of LC/LM/LK you might actually get less gamut depending how much you have to limit total ink lay down.
The only way I can see a $20-$25,000 table being of much use doing mounting all day every day would be if everything you were doing was a different size, but even then it still seem that printing roll to take-up roll and then loading the roll on a roller laminator with guides setup for your...
I have been board mounting with a Seal dual roller laminator for years using much the same method that I see used on flatbed laminators. When I watch the flatbed laminator videos they seem so limited in what you can do with it over all I can do with my seal. Other than the light table I just...
Do everything in Photoshop. Illustrator is not designed for bitmap images at that size. You could try placing the file in Illustrator that might allow you to save it.
150dpi at actual size should be sufficient.
I have been trying that with jobs that don't really need the light inks. Still a little bit to early to say but in theory it should help eliminate color inconsistencies. One thing I am still testing with CMYK only is to see how different black generation in the profile affects the output, for...
Since the L3xx only uses one lc/lm printhead and if the job is using a lot of the light inks you probably are getting ink starvation of the light inks especially with faster passes. Setting inter-pass delay to 200ms will not have any real noticeable effect on speed but it may be just enough to...
There is nothing wrong with the HP when comes achieve good reds or blues. It just takes the proper ink density, calibration/linearization and a good profile.
Never ran any SummaPaints but Encads yes which seemed be do to lack of nozzle redundancy, which ironicly seems to be the L3xx series biggest problem with only having one lc/lm printhead. Don't recall having that much of an issue with the L2xx series which has two lc/lm printheads.
I have used the Canon iPF series and have never noticed color inconsistencies with them. They are the most stable printers I have ever ran. Epson head style printers were always prone to some color inconsistencies because of nozzle clogs.
Can you determined if it is certain colors, light colors, light grays, etc.
How many passes are you using when you notice the shifting?
If less than 12 passes are you adding some inter-pass delay?
Do you notice shifting if you don't use the lc/lm inks?
