  1. I think I just screwed the pooch. What would you do?

If your quote does spell out 2' x 10' and NOT 4' x 10' then you might be OK if the guy is understanding. Explain your situation to him the best you can and see what happens.
  2. I think I just screwed the pooch. What would you do?

I know it sucks, but if you value your reputation you'll make it right, especially if he might do more work with you again sometime. Did you QUOTE it as 2' x 10's or 4' x 10's?
  3. Supplier/Distributor Frustration

I'm another shop in Central Ohio, what exactly are you looking for? I agree Grimco doesn't carry much in-stock of the special colors, etc. But they can always special order them. If you need more variety I would give Laird Plastics a call...
  4. Why charge more than VistaPrint

FWIW - whenever a customer tries to compare my prices to one from an online dealer I usually give them what I call "the hamburger comparison". Sometimes it pisses them off, often times it makes them chuckle and realize there is more to things than price alone. It goes something like this...
  5. 48"valuejet from SignWrhse- who's got one?

Chris, I think you'll be very pleased with the 48" Mutoh VJ - it's 98% the same machine as a 1304, but $4-5k less just won't handle 54" media. Same head, same print speed, same ink carts, same quality, etc. Truthfully will be "night-and-day" difference from your old printer. I know there is a...
  6. Credit card sales?

That looks interesting, especially since I just got a droid. Anybody else using this? How long and what has been your experience?
  7. Building does sign no justice...

    Very nice sign and install.
  8. Please help my never ending mutoh problems!

Listen to stealth rider, the man knows Mutoh. I know it doesn't help you, but I would not hesitate to buy another Mutoh. I believe you are just experiencing some of the shortcomings of that particular series. Have you looked into having a certified tech come out and fix your machine?
  9. any Summa d-140 with opus users in here?

Hmm, like I said it was a 1 time deal with me, and it was 3-4 months ago. However, I remember exactly how frustrating it was so I'll keep an eye on it. Other than that this has been the best cutter I've ever used. BTW - did you call Summa? If this is a regular thing, I'm sure they could help...
  10. Heated Solvent to Clear Printhead

This is one of the reasons I'm leery about switching to 3rd party inks. It seems so many are actually light-solvent and not eco-solvent, or the pigment particles are larger than OEM which leads to clogging. You might want to give Francis a call (aka; Fieldcenter) as he offers a bulk ink...
  11. any Summa d-140 with opus users in here?

Well, at least you know you're not alone. I actually mis-spoke, the issue happened with Wasatch during a contour cut. I wasn't sure if it was a software issue, or...? Keep me posted if it happens again, and I'll do the same.
  12. Heated Solvent to Clear Printhead

Thank you, thats good to know. *Curious, what ink were you using before the clogging problem occured?
  13. Heated Solvent to Clear Printhead

Fieldcenter sells a head washer which I believe heats the solvent and then pushes it through the head. $2500 and it's all yours... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTPUBTv-RRQ
  14. any Summa d-140 with opus users in here?

Are you using Winplot? I've had that scenario happen only once, but like you said restarted cutter, rebooted computer, etc with no luck. Got so fed up I canceled the job and went home for the day. Came in next morning and "voila" everything magically worked again.
  15. Ripping on a MAC - what software you using?

I think Wasatch is a great RIP, but didn't realize they made a version for the Mac. I quickly looked at their system requirements and while it does list Mac, they may be referring to the Mac's ability to also run Windows through Bootcamp or VMware Fusion. (You may want to double-check just in...
  16. Whats the Best Digital Vinyl to Use...Please Help

Joe, first off different materials will require different settings on your rip and printer to acheive the best results. Which includes resolution, heater settings, number of passes, etc. If you're getting dust on your prints, it is probably due to the environment in which your printer resides...
  17. VJ-1604 issue

I recently had 2 rolls of Oracal vinyl that had contamination on them. The second was actually a replacement for the first, but since they were from the same batch they both showed the exact same issue. *I figured out it was bad material by plugging in another roll of vinyl that I had...
  18. VJ-1604 issue

What does your nozzle check look like? What type of ink are you running?
  19. ValueJet 1604 HELP!

Dampers have to be inspected visually - you may need to pull a cover off to see them. BTW - what brand of ink are you running?
  20. Wasatch VS Onyx

I currently run Wasatch 6.6 with my Mutoh and Summa D-140. I do all my design in Illustrator on a Mac and export either a PDF or EPS to Wasatch. I know there is a common theme of disgust with Wasatch support. NOT that they don't know what they're talking about, quite the contrary, but it's...
