  1. Ghosting from the back of cut decals? Any idea what is causing it?

    Defective vinyl............................ ;)
  2. In need of a local Versaworks Mentor

Versaworks will cut any shape that has the CutContour stroke applied to it, so you'll need to get rid of that. Assuming you're importing these images into some sort of design software, (Corel, Illustrator, etc) you just need to get rid of the CutContour stroke. You'll probably want to keep...
  3. In need of a local Versaworks Mentor

Gee, that's helpful. Paul, I know you're looking for someone in person but with how easy/free remote access is these days that could easily be done remotely. I've been using Versaworks daily for the last 10 years. What is it specifically that you want to know?
  4. Need Help security signs

    Huh?
  5. HS15+ Errors

Thank you!! That does help - there is a simple adjustment to tighten/loosen that belt so I will try that and see how it goes.
  6. Mimaki UCJV-300 Reviews

We've only run into head strikes a couple of times. Was more "head rubs" in the center of the media and only happened with 3M IJ40C and 3M IJ180cv3. Tried messing with vacuum settings and pinch roller pressure and placement and was able to get the jobs done, but haven't really found out why...
  7. Rasterlink only cuts using a Mimaki plotter?

I wouldn't promote anything about Rasterlink aside from the fact that it's free and technically it will drive a printer. Onyx thrive/cut server works better for us when printing from our Roland or Mimaki and cutting on Summa.
  8. HS15+ Errors

Yep, I tried all of those. Blew out 15+ years of dust and checked all connections. I even tried adjusting the tension a bit on the belt but no noticeable improvements. I also tried comparing cuts from our swivel blade (what we usually use) and the tangential blade and the lousy quality is...
  9. HS15+ Errors

Thanks Bill. I took everything apart and tapped the solenoid a few times and it seems to boot up okay now. Fingers crossed that it's going to work for now. Still on the hunt for any instructions on how to fine tune the cut quality of the plotter if anyone knows how....!
  10. HS15+ Errors

Additional info: It's actually all of the motors that spazz out when powering down. After re-reading the instructions to determine error codes, it's throwing error #4 - "Power Relay Closed" and the only further instruction is to call Gerber Field Service. Hmm.
  11. HS15+ Errors

I just replaced the drum on our HS15+ and despite taking longer than expected, was able to get it all back together. Booted up fine, and started doing some test cuts to check the quality. Cut dept accuracy was much better with the fresh drum, which I "borrowed" from an old GS15+ we had kicking...
  12. What is your favorite print vinyl and laminate combination?

Stickers/decals GF HTAP 201 w/ Oracal 210 gloss if printed on Roland/solvent. GF HTAP 201 or Avery 2923 EZ w/o laminate if printed on Mimaki/UV-LED Short term signs (corex PVC Pop graphics) n/a - direct printed on flatbed Long term signs (ACM Alum) GF HTAP 201 w/ Avery 2080 matte Vehicle...
  13. WTB: 3M Gerber HP 220 Eucalyptus 15" Punched vinyl ANY LENGTH

No problem, figured it probably wouldn't help much but was worth a shot! WhiskeyDreamer's suggestion is a good one assuming you're using an Edge. Just out of curiosity, why don't you want to try to print a color match? I would think this is what will have to be done once the leftovers run dry.
  14. Vinyl with no markings on liner

It is really good stuff. We've been using it for years but it will shrink a fair bit with heavy coverage/full bleed prints. I got carried away when we first started using it and would use it on some flat vehicle applications...but they all eventually had issues. Definitely still a good...
  15. Vinyl with no markings on liner

First thing that comes to mind: http://www.generalformulations.com/Products/Digital-Media/Print-Film/Matte-White/High-Tack-Permanent-Adhesive/Concept-201-HTAP Sticks like crazy to anything, prints and cuts great and has very little shrinking, even w/ full bleed heavy coverage.
  16. WTB: 3M Gerber HP 220 Eucalyptus 15" Punched vinyl ANY LENGTH

I have 7.5' of 15" punched 220 Eucalyptus Green, not sure if that does you any good?
  17. Need Help BUSINESS CARD WHOLESALER

How do they compare to 4over in terms of quality, turnaround and pricing? I've been tempted to try them out a few times now.
  18. IJC257 changeover

Good to know, thank you! Especially about the white.
  19. IJC257 changeover

Glad to hear you got it sorted out, that's good to know if we ever bite the bullet and switch from 256 to 257. Notice any difference yet or too soon to tell? I take it based on Signmeup's comment that you can just convert one color at a time as you run out of inks? That definitely makes me...
  20. Mimaki UCJV-300 Reviews

Yeah the white is super good. Very happy with it. But yeah, Rasterlink is a joke. The poorly translating wording and 16 tabs to accomplish something that should be done on one screen are killing me. Not to mention that it freezes almost every time you switch between tabs. What would take 30...
