I like AVG a lot. I haven't used McAfee for a long time though. It SUCKED the last time I used it, so I will probably never go back. AVG has been great.
  2. seek failed - Flexi

This is not necessarily a HDD problem. It could be a software incompatibility issue. What OS are you using? 32 or 64 BIt? What version of Flexi?
  3. Computer problems...

That would be me!:thumb: One of our systems would fry a 250 watt power supply in a split second! Our systems start a 600w and go up depending on the upgrades ordered.

Tech's right. Page fault is a hard drive problem. But this failure can have many initial causes, including bad ram, mobo, power supply, or even data corruption, possibly caused by any or all of the above. I have even seen corruption in a single startup application cause the issue described...

Does the BIOS show both sticks of RAM now (as you stated that it was only showing 1/2 the RAM before). Page faults can be caused by a lot of different things. I just find it odd that your Mobo was misreporting the amount of RAM you have. That is the reason I suspected a bad stick of RAM...

I agree... Flexi 8.0 is the first version that I recall being Vista compatible.

  8. Horribel refresh rate/ scrolling... how to fix?

If this fixed it, you are dealing with a really old / bad / generic video card driver. That is assuming that it didn't ever do this before you formatted it. Try downloading the correct driver like mentioned above and see if you can turn the hardware acceleration back on.

Yeah, boot into your BIOS (setup) and check which DIMM slot is "failed". You will have to look on the motherboard to see which one to remove, DIMM 1, DIMM 2, etc. You can run on one stick until you can replace the bad one. Even better idea, RAM is fairly inexpensive right now. If your...
  10. CS4 Photoshop. Please advise 64 bit or not?

I see. Yes, you can upgrade from some Corel applications as well as most Adobe applications. They list the applications on th Adobe website or you can call them and they will give you a yes or no.
  11. CS4 Photoshop. Please advise 64 bit or not?

If you install PS CS4, you get both versions (32Bit and 64Bit). There are a few issues if you run the alienskin filters. Some of their filters only run in the 32 Bit version.
  12. CS4 Photoshop. Please advise 64 bit or not?

Dale, I don't quite understand your question.
  13. CS4 Photoshop. Please advise 64 bit or not?

There isn't. I would guess that it is an upgrade version, education version, or pirated. We are an authorized Adobe resellers and there is VERY LITTLE markup on the CS4 suite. Also, Adobe doesn't support Photoshop 64 Bit on XP64, only Vista64. As a matter of fact, many folks can't get it to...

You will need a RIP. Flexi (Production Manager), Onyx, Wasatch, etc.

Honestly, if you get a good grasp of CS2, then you are going to be fine in CS4. In any case, there are a ton of books out there for CS4, including a "dummies" book. Yes, any digital printer should be able to print from your Illustrator (or Photoshop) file.
