  1. The i didn't make it to sgia (help me!) thread

this thread is to allow signs101'ers, that are not able to attend the SGIA New Orleans show, to submit general requests for specs, photos, movies (shot on phones, most likely), brochures, etc. there will be several sign shops going to see the exact piece of equipment or software and that person...

i'll take a stab at it.
  3. Best Flatbed?

here's a guy that i've been in contact with that really truly does make small (4x4, etc) uv printers. he also has tons of mutoh flatbed conversions. i like the idea of these chinese start ups filming their facilities and discussing their product. chinese manufacturers need to do a better...
  4. Is Any one going to the SGIA Expo in New orleans ????

saturday and part of sunday? just another sign guy, the dates on the website are tuesday through friday. is it open on the weekend?
  5. VuTek

i'm not a vutek guy. just have read up a bit on them. one inexpensive option (i think) is to the the 320/400. pressvu advertises "up to" 350 square feet per hour the 320/400 (way bigger 126" wide) is "up to" 1000 square feet per hour. i think it because they went from six color to dual...
  6. won't hold cleaning fluid

yeah do that instead. that's and upgrade. the printer is just slightly louder with the little cut out. plus it's just a more elegant solution. one thing, i'v also considered moving the waste lines in some way to the front of the printer somehow. maybe i'm getting lazy...
  7. VuTek

@cwb143 if there's a specific snap shot or spec that needs to be figured out, maybe we should start a thread called "stuff i would have researched at sgia, if i could have gone". all us that are going can report back what we find.
  8. won't hold cleaning fluid

now i'm really tempted to start drilling more holes in the hull. it seems that printers are not designed by people that have ever had to use one. one odd thing i figured out (maybe i was the last to figure this out). you can pause a print, while in local, do a head cleaning, then go back to...
  9. NEW xante excelagraphix 4200 (memjet) video

after doing some research, the price is estimated between $80-$100k.
  10. won't hold cleaning fluid

thanks, so is there a firmware/font panel choice that will run the pumps? similar to pressing up or down and the pinch roller moves? that would be awesome!
  11. Career choice stress

you are thinking like a 25 year old, which i also did 19 years ago. at that time, i was an artist, musician, produced a ghetto ministry tv show, made sets for rap videos, was tinkering with my stupid wide body 911. now i'm divorced and finally have custody of my awesome 13 year old daughter...
  12. won't hold cleaning fluid

@mikepro, there was someone on signs101 that also did this mod, but has a separate bottle for each color (cmyk x 2). i think he mentioned that he then just gives the colors to his daughter or something for artwork. to me, if done right, you could just dump them back in the printer. don't see...

  14. won't hold cleaning fluid

i think the caps holding fluid has to do with one of two things. 1, i've never taked the trouble to do this but supposedly the pumps have a "closed" position that they rotate to controlled by the firmware. i don't like this because i like to dump cleaning fluid down my caps. this isn't...
  15. Best Flatbed?

no apology needed. you guys are providing priceless information to the rest of us that, with that information will make the proper decisions in the future concerning equipment choice. about 20 years ago, i flipped the coin on two printers. when with the "brand new state of the art" roland...
  16. Weeding Nightmare!?

i don't know much about vinyl, but it might be a nice touch if you put a reversed white on the interior of the space and the clear print on the outside. this you'd get a natural shadow effect from the float of the glass.
  17. Best Flatbed?

but what would be the procedure? many times, i am the cause of the warp. i torch my pieces, a weld may have gotten to hot in a spot, etc. can you pause and raise, or what is the working head height over a substrate for different models. i'd figure for me, if it was 1mm or 2mm, i'd still...
  18. Best Flatbed?

on the subject of "flatness". some materials are never going to go flat. simply because they've been affected my moisture or when they were manufactured they didn't cool properly and there are some contraction/shrinkage issues. that being the case, neither a flatbed with the strongest...
  19. Epson GS600 vs. other printers

well if you want something "new" i'd use your graphtec cutter to make a gs6000 sticker and slap it on the front of your printer because it is really a mutoh. bad joke... i've seen the output from a l25500. i done know what you felt was poor about it. i thought it looked amazing. it is...
