i'm betting there will be lots of takers at around $40k. the speed for many press shops makes it a game changer. plus 3/8" adjustable head height. essentially, it's a flatbed printer.
what's odd is memjet couldn't get hp or epson or canon to adopt/license the tech. why? because it would render so many of their legacy printers as grandma slow. i can't see how that board meeting went. if i was another printer manufacturer i'd be pissing my pants seeing this come to market...
after reading, it seems they are just about to be released. they've been pushing the release date back for almost a year. i'm curious how much one might cost. ...it could be $10k...it could be $75k? who knows.
all the articles say is "screaming fast" speeds, and at a price point that’s...
i've read about them. it's supposed to be an amazing machine. plus, you can "walk" around inside your printer.
so it does both stationary gantry and also x direction gantry. ...i still don't understand the advantage of y direction as well. it's probably obvious. i've put in a 12 hour...
@signswi that is why i'm asking around. i can always get a jv33 mounted to a flatbed for $50k and it would probably be a dream to work on and maintain. my business isn't a "printing" business. what i do is specialized surfaces. i cringe when i have to run a four color job. i may stagger...
"then do buy one."? you mean don't right? there's no way in my work that machine will every be run every day. that's the reason for the thread originally. i need very wide, non-pinch roller printing for substrates around 3/4". for my work, it doesn't particularly have to be uv. just need...
i'm definitely going to look at the hps at the show. they look very well designed. i'd be afraid with such a nice machine that i'd be dealing with warranty issues as soon as i started to modify it in any way. that said, it has much better color capabilities than i need. not that that his a...
i had a quarter pounder for lunch! of course that was my once a week eat whatever you want meal. i'm turning 44 in one month and doing my best to stay healthy. still look like a kid but my blood pressure which is usually frighteningly low is now pre-hypertensive. that's not gonna work. this...
yeah, white, clear, black, almond. occasionally process color. i'll look into the sericol inks. i've been told here and there that either sericol or triangle was the best way to go. except for triangle seems to want to have a tech do a conversion? same with sericol or is it plug and play...
@animenick65 that is great management advice. they guy best suited for huffing sheets all over the floor is a much different creed than the guy that is best at tracking the rip and print quality.
this is probably best for a different thread... seems like flatbeds are a more interesting topic than "banding" and the threads drift.... so that said...
esigns cued me into and i also read in another thread (on print planet) that the vuteks had some pretty tough ink ID chips. 3rd party ink...
well it doesn't sound quite as bad as i read in some large-format-printers.org article. one reason for not sealing the the heads off may be oxygen inhibition. ...the presence of oxygen can keep initiators from kicking over. i experimented with a uv vanish in my jv3 two years ago and didn't...
on the vuteks is it not even possible to hit "pause" and open the cover to put some kind of gorrilla tape or something on the sheet if it's looking iffy at some spot?
