  1. Does anyone know what happened to "Onyxtalk.com"?

http://onyxtalk.com isn't available anymore. i always check if it comes back online but i think it's gone for ever now. Anyone know what happened to it? there was some good info on that little forum. I know you can go though archives, but not everything is listed unfortunately.
  2. Blocked.............

Couldn't agree more. There was a time i was a newbie, people helped where they could, not necessarily on this forum but others (I found this forum later on). It was actually quite difficult to find a printing forum with vast knowledge. I was pulling my hair out with a profiling issue i kept...
  3. Exterior glass etching halftone photo

Thought so. If my client asked me for something like that, i'd give them the option of direct surface printing with white ink. or Find someone who does glass etching. a google search should find you someone. It's just "glass etching" Or "laser glass etching" any glass etching place should be...
  4. Exterior glass etching halftone photo

Black and white etching or getting a black and white image etched into glass? I dont think you can get black etched into glass as etching is just roughing up the surface of the glass and becomes less transparent. Unless your client is talking about direct surface printing onto the glass?
  5. Tochscreen worth it for designing?

being more specific in the first post usually help more when discussing things with many options. You probably do as much as i do. cut crop ect images except i use photoshop, illustrator ect. I use a fully specd out DELL XPS13. 7th gen i7, 16gb ram ect. just no graphics card as it's a 13"...

  7. Suggestions Creating a icc profile for window perf

An i1 pro will not cut it for window perf. The aperture is 4mm which is good for most generic smooth media i.e paper, vinyls. ect. not for fabrics perf or other materials that aren't generally smooth. Doesn't stop you from trying. give it a go and see what happens imo. But when installed on a...
  8. Tochscreen worth it for designing?

What i have noticed lately is people are not sure of what specs to get their laptops or PCs for Work (not gaming). Gaming rigs are not for design work use, designing & CAD ect. Even if the hardware is top quality its designed for gaming and you'll never get the full potential out of it. Those...
  9. Need Help ONYX Postershop 18 stopped working

Yes try a repair by installing it again. Or even try restarting the pc first.
  10. Discussion new printers, but which RIP?

Onyx has a 30day fully operational trial. Try it before you buy it.
  11. Fuji Acuity 2545 opinion

Speed is not the issue. It's the age of the machine and getting parts. best to speak to fuji about it.
  12. Innovative ???

They're doing it the right way. UV printed onto glass. Not the common way i've been seeing on here with applying vinyl...... They're also using 2mm glass. They dont specify if its low iron or float. low iron is hard to get but float is easy but has a green tint. maybe their images have a cast...
  13. Suggestions Print Ready Art Files

Edit: now i understand LOL. Depends on the job. I keep my clients logos and if i had made a sign ect for them i keep those too. With our printed glass (splashbacks ect), i don't keep the print ready file (cropped to size...) But i do keep the original and if i have made some adjustments to...
  14. Files/jobs not showing in onyx x12.1

If you're having the exact same problem. "C:\program files\onyx\thrive 12\input\arizona\info" doesn't exsist. "C:\program files\onyx\thrive 12\input\arizona" does. Go to C:\program files\onyx\thrive 12\input\arizona and create a folder called "info" and that's it. that was my issue.
  15. Fuji Acuity 2545 opinion

Head maintenance is required on a daily basis. Normal for UV printers. not having an RMO does suck as its very use full for maintenance like checking nozzles. If the printer is lighty used, then yeah i'd get it. if it's got a lot of hours on it, i'd probably pass.
  16. Fuji Acuity 2545 opinion

I still dont know what headaches you speak of? This is basically an Oce Arizona. I dont know what the actual model, 350gt maybe? They're getting old now, but they're good. Depends what your plans are. printing onto rigid materials? Dont know if it's compatible with flexi, Oce have a...

  18. create an ICC profile via your design program

It's already been covered but simply have all your design programs on all of your work stations configured the same. You don't need to. It depends on how far your evaluations go. You can simply print a test chart on your printer and say "yes, this visually looks great" and leave it at that...
  19. Which X-Rite i1 Models Are Compatible With VersaWorks?

First, download this https://www.xrite.com/service-support/product-support/formulation-and-qc-software/i1profiler. See if anything works, if your device works. Software is free, The key to unlock features is inside the device. IMO Invest in something worth while. Because it can really...
  20. Any tips on taking pictures so that everything sizes up the same?

You photoshop RAW editor to adjust for lens distortion. Basically find your camera and lens in the drop down and it corrects it, including the vignetting that you wont notice until it's gone.
