  1. Digital camera recommendation for those in the market (non-DSLR)...

Ah, that might explain the longevity then. I remember not too many years back carrying multiple packs of rechargeable batteries and carrying an inverter and charger in the truck and having to alternate batteries all day. Major pain in the butt. I have zero complaints about these lithium batteries.
  2. Any Recommendations for remote graphic design

Agreed with Rick...yousendit gives good capacity. Box.net is also nice for what you're looking to do.
  3. Digital camera recommendation for those in the market (non-DSLR)...

Also wanted to add, their claims of 400± photos per charge is pretty accurate. On my last round of surveys, I was taking approximately 60 photos per site, 4 sites per day. One battery lasted me almost two full days. And that's walking around the site with the camera on a good part of the time...
  4. Digital camera recommendation for those in the market (non-DSLR)...

I think you might grow to prefer the lithium. The battery that comes with yours is the same as mine and is capable of taking almost 400 photos on one charge. A second battery can be purchased for $6 on Amazon. So that takes care of you for almost 800 photos. No AA batteries are going to be able...
  5. Logos for 2.99

After reading the article in that link, my post may have been in poor taste. I hope those kind of sites don't negatively affect you true designers out there.
  6. Logos for 2.99

4.5 stars - how can you go wrong?? Time for you designers to learn how to paint or lay vinyl. Your days are numbered. lol
  7. Logo Redesign Feedback

Agreed - I immediately thought of Subway. I like the first one better. I think it would look better if the 's' in 'spot' was capitalized...just make the dots arcing over top of it. I think it conveys what you do just fine. ...I'm not a designer though, those are just my thoughts. :)
  8. Digital camera recommendation for those in the market (non-DSLR)...

My guess: 1" deep aluminum pan panel, automotive paint finish, white vinyl.
  9. logo idea

Again...not a designer but I really like the logo portion. Looks distinctive.
  10. Digital camera recommendation for those in the market (non-DSLR)...

Ah, gotchya. I don't do much that requires that kind of ability with the shallow depth of field. For me, the zoom is the main appeal. Sounds like a great camera though. I've never heard of them but it looks like they've been out for a few years?
  11. Payment to sole proprietors...

Thanks to all of you for your responses. So for those of you who require a deposit, and who haven't already mentioned it, what services do you provide (vinyl, wraps, sign servicing, etc.)? I'd like to get a feel of how many of you that charge a deposit are dealing with customers face to...
  12. Digital camera recommendation for those in the market (non-DSLR)...

Yeah, that thought occurred to me as I was typing my question lol.... They look like great cameras. I need to figure out how to convert the mm to optical on the zoom.
  13. Payment to sole proprietors...

So, without prying too much, what determines where you draw the line and charge a deposit? Also, what determines the amount of the deposit you request? (...you personally or you in a general sense, whichever you'd prefer...) What kind of work do you do specifically? So my assumption would be...
  14. Payment to sole proprietors...

I thought of implementing that, but most of what I bill is "small potatoes" compared to others. If I do a job for $5k for example, and I give them the 2% net 10, they only get $100 off...I wonder if that's really enough incentive for them to pay early...?
  15. Digital camera recommendation for those in the market (non-DSLR)...

I'm not familiar with the 4/3 cameras...what does the 4/3 indicate? Man, that camera has some great features for the price!
  16. Payment to sole proprietors...

Hoping for some input: Is it typical for a sole proprietor to request payment sooner than the usual 30-45(+) days that a lot of larger companies take to pay? I started my business with enough of a financial cushion to make it through slim times. But I'm not independently wealthy by any...
  17. Digital camera recommendation for those in the market (non-DSLR)...

The primary services I offer are non-illuminated sign installation and surveys, so having a good camera is pretty vital, especially for surveys. When doing surveys in the past, there were countless times when whatever camera I had been provided with by my then employer just wouldn't give me the...
  18. ADA signs, directories, room identification signs...

Another company handled everything...my only role was to pick the signs up and install them. I agree 100% on knowing for the future and am really appreciative of the knowledge being given. Exactly why I became a supporting member on my second day here. This forum contains a wealth of...
  19. ADA signs, directories, room identification signs...

Correct. I tried to make that clear in my earlier posts but to also not come across as if I didn't care since I wasn't ultimately responsible for the design, color choices, etc. I do care and regardless of who might be at fault, I don't want to do any job incorrectly or do it twice. Now if...
  20. ADA signs, directories, room identification signs...

Very helpful information. Thank you Rick and Gino. I'll discuss it with the company that is handling the project and see what they say. A side note: These new signs were installed in new wings of the hospital. The existing signs in the hospital are even darker than these....
