  2. At what retail cost is banner printing in your local area ?

The art store across from us has a roland sc540 and sells banners at $4/sqft. It isn't their primary market so I am guessing they do this just to fill machine time. We do a 4x2 'Welcome Home' military banner for $12. Often times those that buy that one get a bunch of shirts to go with it...
  3. Looking to hire my 1st employee .. - Not sure where to start-

The temp labor places are pretty good and the $15/hr is pretty reasonable. Here in CA min wage is $8 plus you have to pay all the taxes/fees which brings you pretty close to $12. We are debating if going to a temp is better or just doing a direct hire.

  7. Merrow machine paid off today

Do you cut regular fabric with the cutter? We have a lot of customers come in with fabric and we fuse a mesh on the back of it and then add stabilizer when we sew it. I like the Epilog because it has an ethernet connector but our twill supplier uses Universal which is USB. I want to be able to...
  8. Merrow machine paid off today

We do a lot of applique. We just cut out the design and then sew it down with a satin stitch. A laser cutter will come in handy to do the cutouts though if you do a lot of them.

Before getting into this business we spent 2 years doing research and came across several great resources that did give some free time. These were not generic business gurus but specific to industries. That is where I think the value is. So here we are on a forum in an industry we work in or...

  19. How do you generally charge for a die cut or printed decal?

  20. How do you generally charge for a die cut or printed decal?

We pretty much go by the square foot and have a minimum charge of around $100 for printed, less so for cut vinyl. It depends on the job. If you are doing greek letters then you probably need to register with the greek gods of fraternities and pay a royalty every quarter to them...
