  1. How many can relate?

Many times over. Customer calls asking "where is my sign? Oh, we were waiting on your approval. We sent an email with changes you had requested. "Approved", ok we'll get it right into production and have it for you tomorrow. Customer comes to pick it up and discovers it has the wrong phone...
  2. Aww Yeah!.. another Font ID Request.

    or ITC Goudy Sans Black
  3. Gradient Background Image

You're talking about the background, right? Here's my attempt using mesh fill.
  4. Going crazy trying to print the right BLACK... (Substance material/Moto graphics)

Just be careful sending an rgb 000 color as an eps or pdf to print. RIP will convert it as 0, 0, 0, 100 or Process Black. If all your blacks are filled rgb 000 AND send as rgb tiff then you're good. If all your blacks are rgb 000 and you send it as an eps to print blacks won't be as rich.
  5. Gradient Background Image

Not sure what to call it but you can use a mesh fill in CorelDraw to replicate.
  6. Stupid Fonts...

    Korinna Bold?
  7. Going crazy trying to print the right BLACK... (Substance material/Moto graphics)

Trying to match vehicle colors is very difficult as the paint usually has a metallic flake added to it. DO NOT USE C0 M0 Y0 K100! We use 45, 45, 45, 100. If you use a printer that has Lm and Lc try using a profile that's CMYK only.
  8. Best Printer for Full Print Wraps

Not in this case. We used HP over ten years ago and hated it then. Went to Mimaki and it was awesome. We loaded one print profile for all different types of media and found it to work with all different types of media i.e. good. We've now went to HP (not my decision) and have tried several...
  9. Signlab shuts down every time I try to import tif files!!

May not be of any help at all but....Is the tif from a third party or one created by you? Just saying, because we've had problems with third party tifs before. Opened it up in photoshop and see that "alpha Channels" was selected. Re-saved without Alpha channels and all was good.
  10. Best Printer for Full Print Wraps

I'd have to agree about not going with the HP360. Absolutely hate it for color matching. Not to mention a whole lot of other stuff. My vote? AS MENTIONED MANY OTHER TIMES IN THIS FORUM, STAY AWAY FROM HP.
  11. Dodge Journey Racing Stripes?

Yep ,we use IJ180 with an overlaminate on all our vehicle wraps but we can't print metallic. Color match can be a pia too. If it's simple straight one color stripes, I agree, buy the vinyl, cut as needed and have at it. There are some high quality stripe kits out there though. just gotta dig.
  12. Dodge Journey Racing Stripes?

Yes, there are many aftermarket stripe kits available for cars. Google is your friend. We often tell clients that you can get them much cheaper on the internet and much more accurate fitting. Very expensive for us to do a one off stripe kit. Vinyl + labor would be somewhere between $150 to $350...
  13. Cutting down stickers

Yep, that's the way we roll. Except we call it "punch cut" technical term by our plotter is "Half cut". Under 10 decals and square/rectangle, blade and straight edge is most accurate as well as cleanest. p.s. absolutely hate those rulers with the cork on the back. One sure way to get you fired!
  14. Rasterlink 3 & Tiff

Open the file in photoshop and do a save as. At the pop up screen make sure Alpha Channels under "Save Options" is UNCHECKED. Set all the rest of your parameters as needed then save.
  15. Gerber printing problem. Help please

open the top and check the belt in the front left corner. It has teeth on it. Make sure all the teeth are there. That or a motor issue. Also the teeth that fit in the slots of the vinyl tend to get caked up and you have to clean em up from time to time or the vinyl will get jammed up. Just...
  16. Hi from new zealand

Welcome from sunny Florida, USA. Can you box up a penguin and send it to me? LOL My wife is obsessed with them.
  17. Advice for replacing a Mimaki JV3

We used a Mimaki for years and didn't wait overnight before finishing our banners. Couple of hours maybe, longer for full color backgrounds and such. I wish there was a way to see these new printers in action and in person before settling on one. My company opted for a latex HP and I'm not happy...
  18. Jagged Edges on Vector Artwork

You need to verify it is in fact Vector and not Raster. When you see these file extensions jpg, tif. psd, png, bmp and many others they will without a doubt be raster. ai, cdr, eps, pdf and others can be vector or raster. No way to tell unless placing into illy or corel first.
  19. exporting files to printer

We do 90% of our own printing. If all is vector and no fountain fills then eps. If combo of vector and raster or with fountain fills then rgb tif and sometimes CMYK tif. Every art file we receive will be imported to corel then exported out. Even jpg files will be exported as tif. 99% of pdf...
  20. No longer offering Font finds

After further consideration I will no longer offer font finding. Don't get me wrong, i'm more than happy to help out once in awhile but this font thing has gotten out of hand. Part of a designer/signmakers job is knowing the proper resources to identify fonts. If you can't find it you will have...
