  10. Need Help Mimaki Dryer damaging Vinyl?

Like I said, that is common behavior for these materials. Specialty Materials' Color Print Solvent is worse about it. Your printer heat settings are probably too high though. We use Preheat at 95 degrees (35 C), print at 86 degrees (30 C), dry at 95 (35 C), for a material that presses at 275 F.
  11. Need Help Mimaki Dryer damaging Vinyl?

It's a common problem with that type of material to have trouble getting it off the carrier paper. Squeegee the application tape onto the transfer material HARD. Then turn it backing paper up and carefully peel it off. You'll need to pull the backing paper across itself at a 180 degree angle and...
  12. Need Help Mimaki cg130fxII

On our CG130FX it's extremely sensitive to how straight you load the vinyl in the plotter. You have to fiddle with it until it's straight enough on long cuts to be able to read the cutter marks.
  13. Media and laminate question

Air release media is a must if you are going to be doing wraps. It's difficult to get a smooth application even on a flat 4'x8' sign with non-air-release media. And when doing wraps you will need the repositionability of air release wrap media. I would say the best material to use is the same...

  16. Vehicle Wrap - Looking for Feedback Critique

If anyone wants to see the difference in what your RIP can do vs. your software, take a typical digital photo, one with good vibrant colors on a clear, sunny day. Send it to print twice, once by just putting the jpg file right in the RIP, and once by converting it to CMYK in your design software...
  17. The Game Changer

It's not necessarily online purchasing that drives these calls. For us, it's national franchise stores that get their signs from a franchise-approved vendor. Since the vendor is not local, they hire local shops to do the installation. Some of these work out OK, but others not so much. We were...
  18. Lambretta Font

If all you need is the logo in vector, it's on page one of this brochure. https://www.lambretta.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Lambretta_Scooter_Catalogue_ENG_sm.pdf If you were wanting to type different words using the same font, no luck yet.
  19. Disposing of discharged ink

The thing that's funny about that is that the vast majority of the ink that a sign shop purchases is used to make printed vinyl signs and banners and so on. A portion of the ink ends up in the waste bottle to keep the heads alive and the tubes unclogged. Where do the VOC's that get sprayed onto...
