  1. B-52 flyover in the Rose Parade

The best part of living here is we are in the flight path for flyovers for the Rose Parade, Rose Bowl, and California speedway. We get the best view of military planes on low passes. Also, while they are waiting to hit their time at the speedway they often circle over the house and do some cool...
  2. accepting credit cards II (non swipers)

We use first data from sams club but we are b/m so most of our transactions are swiped. If we key in we get an extra whack on the fees, something around 1%.
  3. Accepting Credit Cards

Those fees for paypal are double what we pay. When I look at our statement and take into account all of the fees we have we still only come out to 2.1% in total fees for all of our credit/debit card transactions. Base rate is around 1.5% plus we have fees if we take a card over the phone or...

  6. was i out of line with this price?

Thanks for the 411 on the foam. We have used Gemini in the past. We like our sign supplier and trust they know their stuff. I was about the same on the install, just a few bux down from what you said but we do have a good margin on the letters and we had to remove the old letters and repair any...
  7. What is your company workflow is like ?

Our floorplan is a clockwise movement. Jobs come in the front (west) and the move along the north wall to staging. Once the job is 'up' it is pulled and work begins in the area it needs to be for production, either south side or center. Once it is done it returns to the north side in a delivery...
  8. A Job Board that works for me

We use 2 white boards divided by job type. It is tough to keep them up to date though. The daytime is insane with the lobby full of customers and orders coming in and going out and each of us works both production and sales/deliveries. The hardest part is just the size of the shop, too small for...
  9. was i out of line with this price?

Sixteen 13.5" letters. We have our sign supply vendor do the cad cut on these. It is a push for me to rent a lift or use a ladder. Either way I pay $350 for the lift or take my time on a ladder. I figure he got a good deal to begin with so I am probably 3X or more what he paid. Of course they...
  10. was i out of line with this price?

Foam letters with a plastic top, outside install on a spanish lace, south facing, SoCal at about $125/letter with removal of the old ones and cleanup/repair and install of the new ones about 20 feet up. The old ones were falling off. We didn't do them. Wrong adhesive, hand cut, bad app. We...

  12. foam letters, what went wrong?

I quoted this out at $2k for 16 letters at 14" with a remove of the old, repair of the site, prep, letters and install. We will see if they bite.
  13. foam letters, what went wrong?

I don't know if they are outdoor rated. I took a picture to our sign supply place and showed them the problem and explained outdoor and south facing and he gave me an estimate for replacing them. I will make sure he is giving me something that can last outdoors.
  14. foam letters, what went wrong?

Got a call to do a job to replace foam letters with the color plastic facing. The plastic is falling off. When I look at the adhesive on the back of the plastic that fell off it is all buttery and just comes off with no effort. The plastic back that has the adhesive on it is smooth with a few...

  18. What extent do you go to when wanting to land a new good customer?

First question I would is why come to me? What happened at the other place? Was it really price or something else. I think you need to know their motivation before pricing.
  19. This isn't looking good...major CPA trouble

Get an attorney to sue the CPA and get a new CPA and possibly and EA to get it straightened out. All penalties and interest should be paid by the old CPA.

Yeah, all the thread is right there in front of your face. Except for the floss, our supplier is close by so I can always run down there and pick up more if I need it.
