  1. New here, looks like a good find so far

Looks like you need to go to wireframe mode in Corel then node-edit. You can reduce nodes manually by double clicking on them or by using the slider bar thingy (but I forget how) Love....Jill
  2. What's your most profitable item? Why?

Anything I get to paint. Because paint is less expensive than vinyl and hardly anyone else can do it. Love....Jill
  3. What's your margin?

I try to not run copy out to the edges. You were talking about negative space, right? Love....Jill
  4. Bookkeeper Sign Layout - Layout Help

Can I play? There is entirely too much copy on that sign. Keep it simple. Tell her to save the laundry list for her bizcards/website. Love....Jill
  5. ESP? this happens quite often for me

It happens to me quite often...usually with a customer I wish would not remember me. :) Love....Jill
  6. A New Wrinkle Even For An Old ****

What if you cut the trees out of green PVC or some such, taped them to the old sign, drilled thru both then pop-rivet them on? Love....Jill
  7. Thank you, Typestries!

Really appreciate your great fast service and you did a quality job. Totally saved my hiney. :thankyou: Love....Jill
  8. Oracal 651 problems

I've noticed for about a year now, when cutting the 15" perforated 651, that at the end of the roll and about 8' in towards the end, that the edges wanna stick together. You know, where the edges are perforated, it's as if the glue seeps in a bit. No probs with the unpunched stuff. Love....Jill
  9. New logo

I'd scrap them and begin again. The ampersand for an icon might be OK if it was an attractive one. Too much space between the de the dash and the sign in all examples, makes it read weirdly. Love....Jill
  10. Design & Layout work Stolen

No deposit, no design. Ever. Period. I don't even turn on my computer or allow myself to even think about someone's layout until I get a deposit. Love....Jill
  11. don't beat me up too bad

Hooray for Bob finally posting a nice suggestion! Yours are both still pretty awful. You're arching a casual font now, which is just as against the rules as with a script. You're using two "display" typefaces in the same layout. ...and they're both pretty nasty. In the middle of the night, I...
  12. don't beat me up too bad

It's too busy if anything...never put script on an arch. Always weld your scripts. The italic GRAPHICS is at odds with the script angles. I'd say back to the drawing board.
  13. don't beat me up too bad

I really like the East Penn name...so much more classic. PA is such a gorgeous and historic state.
  14. don't beat me up too bad

OK really quick idea (I am in the middle of doing something really dull and I needed a break) These are Steve C's Signfonts Cardiak and Poster Deco. I took the E from one and flipped it to make an icon, and stuck an X in there too. Then I trimmed it up a bit. I didn't want you to think I...
  15. don't beat me up too bad

To be honest, both are atrocious. As had been said, no need to flip the E. The top one is ridiculous with the skinny X and the 80s fonts. But then you add insult to injury in the second attempt with that horrid X and the childlike script that looks like Comic Sans with diarrhea. The colors are...
  16. Playing with a retro business card...

I like the top right. :)
  17. Info on past Avery failures

My pix were on the site. I got screwed up the butt without lube by Good Old Avery. It's sooo much fun to peel off two layers of vynull on a big old van. And that lawyer's window, glad I caught it before they did. The SignGold was fine but that layer-o-Avery underneath it wasn't. I think I was...
  18. Not really a fresh topic...VENTING

"I forgot my checkbook" "My company is net-30" "Can you wait while I go to the ATM?" "You don't accept credit cards?!?!" "Didn't my boss send you the check?" "I only have $25, can't you just take that?" Been there, done that. Love....Jill
  19. Playing with a retro business card...

I think you should tilt the whole circle just slightly. skew it towards the left. (not distorted) Give it some life. Love....Jill
  20. Properly prepping plywood or some other wood grain showing material

What I did when I made a sign out of T-111 was to prime it with boiled linseed oil. That seals the wood. It takes a LONG time to dry like 3 days. Then I painted it with Ronan block-out white. Then I let that dry. Then I sanded the bejeezus out of the edges with a DA sander hooked to an air...
