  2. Max. Cutting area, CE-5000-60

Heres a dumb question... What is the maximum cutting area for my CE-5000-60. I am laying out a simple 1 color layout for a 18x24 Chloroplast sign. I have 24 inch vinyl. Obviously, I would like to cut these landscape, to minimize waste. But, every time I send the job, i get a "no media"...
  3. New start-up.

class act Chris. If I knew what the hell I was doing, I'd share it. At this point. I am damn good at the selling part. I had some design background and I still take WAY too long to even think about charging by shop rate. Takes time. And a tough skin to hang here. But these are the...

anyone find it odd that shovel has not piped in? I know he made that recent resolution to lay off on us newbies, but this one is just hanging over the plate, waiting to be slammed out of the park!

Nice! Thanks to you both... As a follow up---Is there a illustrator bible for tips and tricks...or even a tutorial that one might recommend for brushing up on the basics? Need to do some trade-relevant reading... Thanks again! GP
  6. joining objects in AI

At the risk of sounding like a complete moron... How do you join two objects of the same color so they do not cut as separate objects? In this instance, I have a black strike through (more or less) running through a vector image. I, of course, want to weld the objects together so this...

  10. Plexi on Plywood...

Your method sounds fine. While in construction, we swore by liquid nails. I would screw the 4 corners and split the difference along the border as mentioned while the adhesive sets up. Keep in mind, however, it will NEVER come down. GP

  13. Flexi investment...

I do have experience with Illustrator. Alright in Corel, but I am more familiar with Adobe. Is there also equivalent plugin for Illustrator on the Graphtec cd (which I now know comes in the box, along with the manual)? I am just trying to maximize my investment, thank you.
  14. Flexi investment...

That is a great looking dog Chris.
  15. Flexi investment...

I was hoping that was a realistic approach. I wonder if I need the Co-cut software of if the Graphtec Design suite offers the capability to cut from Illustrator.
  16. Flexi investment...

After considering everyone's generous input and revisiting my business plan (moreover, my budget sheet), I am going to start off learning the business with a Graphtec 7000 cutter, though the 5000 is more in-line with what I have to spend. Any thoughts on this? Seems I will also want to invest...

  18. Printer questions...

Thank you for your concern techman. It is feedback like that that makes me glad I joined the forum in the first place. It is never a bad idea to re-approach your business plan, whether you are new to the business, or have been in it for years. Although I do not feel like I need to defend my...

Wouldn't let me leave it blank when I was registering...thought that was the route I was going, so I went with it. I have a good friend from Greenwood. Believe he might know you. Or at least, of your business. It came up in conversation anyways.... Small world.
