  1. jv3-250SP "Set a cartridge KKMMCCYY"

i do remember that when the cleaning carts are set, the printer doesn't make a noise, nothing. when they are all in, then i think it goes "beep". actually i just changed my recipe for cleaning solution the other day. was observing some yellow triangle ink in a small dish and found a more...
  2. Laptop running incredibly slow

two things recently really slowed down my pc. one the custom photo option on your google page. don't know why. my typing speed was dragging, read that it can help now i am back up to speed. also, in your internet options under connections un-check automatically detect settings (i think, it's...
  3. FJ52 Print file disappears on Clear-backed Perf, but not White-backed

i really wish the sign making industry would abandon lm lc. thousands of installed printers with open channels that could benefit from orange and green or red and blue inks... the cost of development is already finished with so many ink sets out there. i ran roland hexachrome from the...
  4. FJ52 Print file disappears on Clear-backed Perf, but not White-backed

@sfr table hockey it's a waste of ink. the printer can do fine and consume much less ink, getting the same colors with higher density CMYK, and not using lm lc.
  5. jv3-250SP "Set a cartridge KKMMCCYY"

from what i know (which isn't that much) you are stuck. many people, including myself, have been stuck with the same problem. so, you did the wash portion of the cycle? and now it's saying to insert carts? first off, you don't have to do the cycle at all. you can get some unchipped...
  6. Sp300 damper and captop replace instructions

dampers are a snap. you'll need a syringe set up with a fitting that can be inserted inside of the base of the damper. turn off your printer on the front, turn off from the back. unplug and press the front power button four times. take off the dampers. when removing pull gently up...
  7. FJ52 Print file disappears on Clear-backed Perf, but not White-backed

what if, the portion of the firmware that allows for clear media is corrupted. i remember that when you set to "clear", that's it. the machine is great for clear, a dream compared to other printers. set and print. no more "tricking" the machine. so it does a test print, but not a rip...
  8. FJ52 Print file disappears on Clear-backed Perf, but not White-backed

been a long time since if seen the screen. is it set to maximum width? when the printer is set to clear, it doesn't "look" for any media. so sensors shouldn't matter (at least my fj50 was like that).
  9. stumped, chronic vacuum leak at cap

really appreciate all the input. lots of great "out of the box" suggestions. i will head back the printer in a couple days and give all these ideas a go. in the meanwhile, i'm stuck proposing projects and the such.
  10. stumped, chronic vacuum leak at cap

that's what i'm doing. i've got a lot of things going on and will do battle later. again appreciate all the replies.
  11. stumped, chronic vacuum leak at cap

@jesse i feel stupid. i'm like, "i don't need no stinking jv3 service manual... what can it have that i don't know"... sounds like there's a lot more dialing in to do. thanks for the suggestion. tired of looking at this giant purple weight.
  12. It's here!!!!! It's here!!!!!

i've seen the uv rolands printing clear at a trade show. it's like 4 square feet an hour. had to make several over prints to build up the surface.
  13. stumped, chronic vacuum leak at cap

i've tried every different combination. it has a facotory shim in there right now, but it's been at every possible different height combination. and i've moved the targeting position every possible way as well. i'm stuck with angle of contact or approach.
  14. stumped, chronic vacuum leak at cap

@jhilldesigns ...i've dropped the head back to factory... currently even set at the "thin" media height, which it's never been at. @mimaki man. i'll check the spring issue. appreciate all the input from everyone.
  15. stumped, chronic vacuum leak at cap

...the air is getting in right at the cap. i've heard it (with my homemade stethoscope). also, "where" a bubble comes from is the leak location. the system is perfectly sealed from the damers back. i've had the dampers hanging off the head carriage for days, they haven't gone down in ink...
  16. stumped, chronic vacuum leak at cap

i can pull fluid with a syringe, getting lots of bubbles, and a tiny hiss of vacuum leak. is a hiss common? don't remember ever hearing an audible sounding leak. during a cleaning cycle, i get nothing. meaning the printer will not work properly over time. maybe i should pull ink through...
  17. stumped, chronic vacuum leak at cap

hoping someone out there knows of some mimakinese secret to solving a vacuum leak at the cap. recently i broke down my printer, did some mods, put it all back together. did an ink fill (CMYKx2) and noticed that the K and C weren't filling. did the usual isolation, extensive isolation...
  18. switching from CMYKlmlcSS to 2xCMYK

it's built. no photos yes until finished. it's dream too! a quiet jv3. instead of squaking and doing head cleans all day. been off for days while knock around the studio. heads are completely clean. i can put ink in them in two mintues. getting the parts for my piggy back cartridge in a...
  19. Used printers: Mimaki JV3 vs HP 9000s

i was at mountain graphics a few months ago (gf's dad runs it, gigantic graphic company). they had a heard of jv3's and tossed them for the hp's. told me that the hp's are way better. now i own a jv3 160sp. it's a quirky machine. when it's printing, which is the usual, it's great. but it's...
  20. What is a Z3100 good at?

well, it's good at printing on photo papers, fine art papers. does great grayscale printing. even has a clear gloss cartridge that prints over certain area to eliminate bronzing. there's tons of discussion on the photography printing business on the luminous landscape website. i'm...
