Another short run, then test draw. Some black out (1 side), some yellow (1 side), almost all of the cyan (1 side). Magenta is still full. were these results after putting the tubes back in their original positions?

well, you've still go magenta working. i'd use that as your "control". it's a jv3 160sp?... you can isolate each pump/cap line by hooking it up to the magenta side of that pump. and see if you get different results. one easy way to get a pump going is to have a partner syringe cleaning...

chip resetting and permanent chips are available for that printer (last i read). do some coagulation tests with some epson ink and the "new" yellow. tweak your settings a bit and change yellow, i say. one year is castastrophic. as far as "formulating" inks for certain printers... i've stuck...

for proving it that side of the pump is pumping, just do a pump tube swap and observe the results. just make sure when doing the cleaning cycle that you transpose the "new" positions of the cap tube/pump tube relationships.

for one, rebuild the board (macmedia). i have the main board pdf for the jv5. also have the slider board, too etc (in case macmedia needs one). as far as the heads... which jv5 is it (S, DS)? i thought i read a discussion with fieldcenter pointing out that some models will accept dx5...

i've had solid bands appear from a loos data cable. power down and reseat for sure. then do the data swap to isolate. attached is a rendering of a data swap for a jv3. this might help you in doing your data swap isolation.

i'd pop a triangle or roland or mimaki or any yellow in that printer asap. you could be sitting on top of a ton of reprints.

if it's the left half of all the heads... i'd guess that you can assume that the absorb point is off for your caps. there's been a lot of "missing sides" if heads lately... strange. as far as all these missing sides, with any single color just swap dampers within that color. running...

those s/s frames are replacable?

well, the pump itself can be fine. but the motor to the pump would be what the error is speaking of. as far a proving if that side of the pump is operating, just swap the pump tubes in the back with a pumpt tube that you know is operating properly. ...when you say, isn't holding prime...

seems like a design flaw for sure. i figure make sure there's lots of packing grease on the interior tube. also, start rebuilding instead of replacing.

i had this issue a while back (finally solved it by stretching out my capping station springs). one great suggestion to target the cap seal and the head was to "paint" the rim/seal of the capping station with black ink. park the head carriage on to the capping station (printer off of course)...

looks like that side is vapor locked. you can alway do a damper swap to see if there's a restriction at that damper. ...also, try just pulling a vacuum at the waste line. might be a quick fix.

i can't strap a $20,000 piece of art to the roof. plus i can only imagine what a piece of acrylic would look like after being baked in the texas heat and then rained on then covered with pollen from all my pine trees before i finally unstrap it. i did the trailer + suv thing for 15 years...
