  1. Blackberry versus iphone.

Yeah, Droid is just an OS. I use the BB Curve. Love it.
  2. Make the switch to UV flatbed...?

Like Hzone, I'd be weary of any pinch roller printers for rigid media. I don't know of a single one that works well. Many of feed problems and bad double sided registration, not to mention the likelihood of head strikes. FWIW, the FB950 (and FB700) is a hybrid machine, but uses a 4' long...
  3. Sp300i printing on Reflective

Only a couple of the reflective films are recommended for printing. All others should be wiped with alcohol before printing to remove any contamination.
  4. XC540 & Versaworks

Ahh, so it's the layer order, and not the created order? I'll have to play with that tomorrow.. that's useful.
  5. 3m ij35-20

From my understanding, 3M (and most, if not ALL of the other vendors) do not produce their own release liner. The liners are sourced from various suppliers. A lot of them come from the same suppliers who have licensed certain technology, hence the popularity of the "football" air egress patern...
  6. a few recents

Yikes on the HHR!! You can tell the designer is not an installer! Is the jacked up truck the competitor you were talking about?
  7. Air Bubbles

Gino, I'll give you that cast tends to be more "workable", but calendared is usually much more substantial, and therefore easier to handle for a novice installer. Cast film is much stretchier than calendared. The OP asked about preventing bubbles, and no matter how much money you spend on...
  8. Air Bubbles

What? While I agree cutting corners will almost always come back to bite you, calendared vinyl applies the same as cast (as far as flat surfaces). There is no difference in ability to lay a certain grade of vinyl, brand, color, etc, with the exception of an air egress media. It all comes...
  9. SP540V print problem

    Pinch rollers?
  10. SP-540 Service Call 0101

Reboot.. if it continues, clean the encoder strip/sensor.
  11. SP540V print problem

I don't know for sure (I don't have that printer), but if you search here or on Google I'm sure you can find something.
  12. SP540V print problem

The encoder strips can go bad. You may also want to clean the encoder strip sensor. A little alcohol and lint free cloth works there too. You can also flip the encoder strip over (the printers only read the top, so it can be flipped over to use the bottom). Just make sure that the holes stay...
  13. SGIA Vegas 2010

I'll be participating in the "Getting Noticed: How to Market Your Graphics Installation Business" seminar on Tuesday the 12th. I'm sure I'll be installing in the Application Zone too.
  14. tool for cutting backing paper off in the middle...

Nope. If it does, give it a little lick before you slide it in there! Lol I'm serious!
  15. New helper starting tommorow

Good luck! We've added four positions this year. With every one, there's a little trepidation, but it always seems to work out.
  16. HI everyone 60 degree question

    +1 for cleancut.
  17. tool for cutting backing paper off in the middle...

    Sorry.. they're like $6. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=gift+wrapping+cutter&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=CrpIkF_ErTOHxG4uugATN08X2CgAAAKoEBU_QeiYD
  18. tool for cutting backing paper off in the middle...

If you're just wanting to cut the backing paper in the middle to start a hinge there, go to Walmart or Michaels and buy a gift wrapping cutter. They're like $3 and slide nicely between the backing and vinyl. :)
  19. Static cling cutting problems

We have had issues that were fixed with shorter runs using a slower velocity. The static material creates quite a bit of drag across the platen, which I suspect is the culprit.
