I think your most likely culprit is inconsistent heat along the platen. Do you have an IR thermometer? Can you read the temperature along the width of the platen and see what you get?

User error.. you are operating out of manufacturer spec by not allowing the ink to dry sufficiently. Arlon's a good company to deal with, and will most likely just take care of you. If they happen to test samples and see evidence that there was not enough dry time, who knows...

You can definitely print paper. We have used Oce outdoor poster paper. It's 212gm. I still prefer the GF Poly though.
