Yup. I used to install ring blowers on all kinds of equipment and the silencers were noting more than round cased "glass packs".
Expensive too since they were a "custom" product. Umm..sure they were.
If it's a Lexus nothing will stick to the glass. Otherwise you may have an oddball like I ran into. Tried three different times to do some van windows. Ending up calling my buddy the window tint expert and he said that too much silicone(or something similar) was used in processing the glass...
Depending on budget tell the client to have it painted to match. I refer those types of jobs to a local truck repair shop. Coach company should be able to supply the paint codes.
Yes, let them make the offer. To be brutally honest sign shops aren't worth much. Oh, but I have a client list. Clients are not loyal and will absolutely jump ship as soon as ownership changes. Why? Because change scares people. No way around it.
I'd rebuild the SP540V. I'm still running mine. It's slow, but works well. Otherwise the Epson S40600 is $9995 brand new. 64" wide and includes a take-up-reel. You can also reach out to BigFish about the HP latex printers. VanderJ may be able to help too.

Sub it out until it's worth bringing highly specialized(expensive) rolls of material in house. There are legal issues if the correct materials aren't used.

Steam works a treat. I bought the same steamer from Menard's and it was less than 50 bucks. I had a job like the OP's where the vinyl was welded to the glass. Steam took it and the glue right off.
Years ago I made interior office signs out of solid cherry blanks and gold leaf vinyl. Looked great and matched the existing trim and doors.
I'm no good at carving, but the OP is. See where I'm goin' with this?
One Swiffer would be fine for the box truck panels. I use mine until I see flecks of dirt or they start to flatten out a tiny bit. For mission critical work I grab a new one.
I've been using a Swiffer duster with no issues. Before that it was Crystal tack cloths from the local auto body supply. No matter what you do there will still be that single tiny bit of something that shows up from time to time.
Last print I lam'ed had an eyelash in it. You'd need a...
