Well, so far so good. I removed the spring tab from the top of the Cyan cartridge bay to look at the lever. Forgot to put it back on then replaced the cover. Ooops. Printer has been running since. Weird, but I'll take it.
Thanks VanderJ. For whatever reason the chirping stopped and I need to print some jobs. Then I'll check on the black lever and report back. Hopefully I can get it fixed once and for all.
Well my SP540V is up to it's old tricks from 2017. Chirps for Cyan no matter what I do.
Tried cleaning the sensor in the cartridge slot. Tried cleaning the chip on the cartridge.
Tried multiple cartridges. Tried unplugging the sensor.
Still chirps for ink.
Weird thing is I unplugged the...
Yes, print heads seated on caps. Hook syringe to one cap at a time then very gently and slowly pull back on plunger. If the syringe doesn't pull any ink through you probably have an air leak or blockage somewhere in the ink train.
Friend of mine wraps a lot of beer trucks. He asked me about printing the wraps. I said sure and shot him a price. The beer company who shall remain nameless said no way. Corporate told him; "We sell a complete wrap to our distributors for $500".
Could be an air leak somewhere. Did you try drawing ink through the cap tops with a syringe? Could be a bad ribbon cable. They are a consumable. Could be a board. Could be a fuse. The possibilities are endless.
I'd check the simple things first. Make sure all your o-rings are good. Make...
So ya want bang for the buck huh?!
I bought a die and made a table. Only use it on soft materials like coro and magnets. Works beautifully.
Been so many years forgot where I bought the die.:(
Check the tip of the blade with a magnifying glass. I had a batch of blades where the tip snapped off almost as soon as touching the vinyl. Was driving me nuts trying to figure out the bad cuts.
Then I bought a Summa.;)
1) Find a local shop with a flatbed.
2) Remove door and bring it to shop with flatbed and have them direct print.
3) Reinstall door and collect check.
No way I would even think about trying to do that with vinyl.
Way back when I did a job for a window tinter. Ran some tests on his various frosted films and let the client pick. Film printed great and it looked fantastic. Got to help on the install too. Quite a project.
Not positive on the film brand. It may have been Llumar.
Free or have him pay you to take it away. Going to cost you a thousand bucks in ink just to find out if it's a boat anchor or not. I'd rather put the money towards something with a warranty.
Check your lines first. Years ago my brand new Roland had the lines loosen from the cartridge and damper ends. Barfed ink out both ends of the printer.
Upside it was only the black and cyan.
Still rocking an XP Pro rig for back-up RIP duties. Latest beast was purpose built by a local shop with Win 7 Pro. It has code they wrote that keeps Win 10 from auto updating. It flat out flies. That's what you get with custom builds.
In the lab at school our Indigo press runs XP Pro.;)
I'm in the upper mid-west. Arlon's 6000 series with 3220 gloss laminate is our go to for vehicles or outdoor signage. For things up less than a year we've had good luck with Kapco's calendared material. YMMV
