  1. Advanced skill value...

Sorta looked into this, colleges prefer degrees. The last job I had, we had 3 college instructors. I applied at a job where they did basic sign shop instruction but I think the education part and not being certified/trained on Roland Printers took me out of the running for that job. But part of...
  2. Advanced skill value...

I already belong to 2 similar forums, where do you think I get the bulk of my work?
  3. Grade 2 Braille?

The correct is 1abd... you have a freaky braille font. I can't scan my big arsed book of braille, but I can show you these 2 pages from some seminar I went to. It has enough to get you by on Grade 2 braille. The only reason I can read grade 2 Braille is it was "drilled" (that is a raster...

  5. Grade 2 Braille?

There was a Grade 2 font, the one I had was for a Mac, but I never got to work right In that Corel font, you might type: (note lower case) #aabd
  6. Grade 2 Braille?

What you are typing in is grade one, grade 2 is contracted braille so you have to get a translator. You also have to worry about what you type in the translator so that room names are lower case. For instance: Stairs in Grade 2 is: /airs 123 is #abc The translator software I have used is...
  7. Frosted Vinyl Help

NO CLEAR!... as far as app tape, I always used 3M, It's thicker and less apt to bind when wet causing detailed cuts to shift. Hydrate tape before you pull app tape off.
  8. It doesn't look that hard

I think it's cool a young dude is doing this, keep painting! I think a week with a crusty sign painter would cure most of this young man's poor habits. And another week drawing a thousand "S's". I can't hold up my arms that high for very long anymore and the old farts that taught me probably...
  9. Advanced skill value...

Thats the struggle, the boys want to move. But very sick wife, parents getting old. But even they want me to work where I would be used to my potential and have people to work around (oh and the food, I love food, not the swill I make at home)
  10. Advanced skill value...

    :corndog: Corn dog for you!
  11. Advanced skill value...

Gino or me? I dropped out of 2 schools... working made more sense and admittedly was immature at the time. But I have been very lucky at where I got to work.
  12. Advanced skill value...

The main reason I am told they would not hire me is they think I would be "bored"... It's actually a very odd reason because most sign design is boring. I get 10% of the design fun, then 90% getting it done, drafting, permitting, production design... I have a lot of projects that took years to...
  13. Advanced skill value...

I have worked for 3 similar design firms. I'm very familiar with Entro... they are one of the EGD firms I admire.

  16. Advanced skill value...

After seeing Ghost's post, I thought he had some cajones doing that so I figure I might try... It's no big secret that I have looked off and on for a local job and have been told I'm over-qualified. I may be looking again soon now that the near future may bring a move. So here it is... Sign...
  17. Some advice for aspiring designers

Looks like a college course assignment gone bad...
  18. The "NEXT" thing...the iPad 3

I'm giving in and buying one... I was hoping for 100+ gig drive for more movies and music but I guess thats what my MacBook Pros are for.
  19. Cheap channel letters?

We have one city here in particular (Irvine, CA) that requires individual letters and logos with empty areas to be cut out so you see the wall. On intricate logos where I made a "cloud sign", they insisted it was a cabinet and would not permit the sign. it does not stop me from trying if the...
  20. Cheap channel letters?

A lot of city's view that type of sign as a cabinet, and many cities do not allow cabinet signs. You can not compete with that sign if you are calling out individual channel letter. If that cabinet sign is allowed, I would follow MikePro's suggestion and give them 2 options.
