  2. Dimensional from the ground up.

If I had to figure that out on my own, I would have wimped out... I admire the huevos it takes to add to your skills and go beyond your comfort level. Self-taught newbies have a lot to overcome, I admire the courage to take on this type of work. My philosophy is everyday I am practicing the...
  3. Dimensional from the ground up.

I have designed them this way, precast makes for consistent finish than pour in place. I have seen them mounted with tubes and with rebar hanging from the bottom and grouted in place.... I'm not a big fan of stucco, I kinda like the raw concrete... Nice set of pics.
  4. Have At It...

What Gino said... Too much of that typeface makes for poor priority reading, a layout needs some rhythm. You should start with a straight typeface, then add the goofy one for some flavor. You have too much goofy. Too much blue makes it very bottom heavy, maybe cut that blue area in half...

Just in case, I did this and found Suitcase to be buggy. Maybe it was me, but a few other designers I know had issues. I don't know if they fixed the problems, I had been a long time Suitcase user till then but I wrote off Suitcase after that, I just use Fontbook

  10. Getting a Mac and switching to Illustrator

Out of curiosity, why are you going Mac/Adobe when they have a PC version? If you work in scale, you might want to pick up the CADTools plug-in. I would think most fonts will work. The IMac is a sweet machine, but I can't stand the shiny screen. I work on MacBookPro's with the non-glare...

  14. Workflow and File Handling

Every shop, large or small that I have worked at designed in Illustrator or Corel, then sent it to a sign program like Flexi-sign. It's cheaper, it's easier to find an Illustrator or Corel specific designer, and I would never get locked into only having buggy .fs extensions on my important...

  19. Advanced skill value...

I have worked for sign guys and EG Designers that did this. Turn outs are spotty at best, and it's very frustrating cramming info into people with a wide skill set. I usually helped with the green designer/sign guys.
  20. Advanced skill value...

I have applied for on local one, but they were dealing with smaller jobs, too qualified, then added they could not pay well. Were not old!!! Yeah, how do you think I got certified? >nursing a hamstring pull< My resume is simple, just job experience, and only the past 4 jobs, basic...
