  3. What Brand CNC Are You Running?

Actually no, I don't do anything for other sign shops. It's for our use. We do a lot of lighted, dimentional sigange. High rise pylons ect.. I have several national account companies that I build and install for. It really ads a new dimention to the sign shop. Most every sign is a shape of some...
  4. What Brand CNC Are You Running?

    Welcome from KY.
  6. What Brand CNC Are You Running?

I cut lots of aluminum and plexiglass. And lots of those aluminum signs go beyond 8 ft long or 4 ft wide. Also, if I'm cutting plexiglass letters or channel letter backs or faces, many times I can get a set out of a 4 x 10 or 5 x 10 sheet instead of using 2 - 4x8's. I started with a 4x8 and...
  7. What Brand CNC Are You Running?

Mine is an AXYZ. I really like it and use it almost daily. What you can do without is the auto tool changer. Vaccum hold down is a must in our business. Get a 5x10 table, If you get the 4x8 table you'll regret it.
  8. Your Ebay Experience

I don't buy anything of real importance to me or anything of high value/price. I don't trust Ebay enough to spend anything over a couple hundred dollars. I bought a digital camera for 225.00. My biggest purchase thus far. I did sell a Compaq server that I no longer needed for 1200.00. Both went...
  9. Blackberry Jam

Hey there guy, I started using Flash at Flash 1.0. Don't use it much now since the sign business has occupied my every thought for the past 3 years. Anyway, WELCOME.
  10. Do you have a graphics Degree?

Combination of self taught and working as apprentice. The guy I started learning from quit about 2 months after I came to the company. After that I was on my own. I had worked with programs like Photoshop, Fireworks, A.I., and an few others. This was my intro to Flexi-Sign, ArtCam and AutoCad.
  11. CadLink PhotoScript

If you are doing 4, 5 or 5 color stuff you'll almost have to have something. I posted that one because I have it and it's the only one I have any experience with. It's strictly a screen print color sep tool that is a plug in for Photoshop. Truth be known, if you are really good with Photoshop...
  12. CadLink PhotoScript

I've never used Photoscript but It's my understanding that it is a RIP software. I don't think it does color seperation for screen printing. You probably need something like FastFilms. Check it out at http://screenprinters.net/
  13. Printer Repair Costs

I have a Mimaki JV3 and I do all the repair work myself. All I've ever had to do was replace a pump, clean the heads and converted it to bulk inks. Had it 3 years. It would be hard for me to pull the trigger on 2500.00 a year. Then again, I don't live in Alaska.
  14. .wpd file help.

This is a "Word Perfect" file. It's a program similar to MS Word. You can probably open it with MS Word or MS Works if you have them. Not vector though. It's probably a .gif or .jpg on a text document. You can probably get a Word Perfect viewer online if needed.
  15. Cutting Through 080

I use artcam and an AXYZ router. I set my ipm on the router control panel. If you a manual for your router I'd look there for the speed control.
  16. Got to make a choice Graphtec or Roland

    I have 2 Graphtec 5100's. A 150 and a 130. No problems ever. 3 years old.
  17. Cutting Through 080

With .080 alum 3/16 will work. 1/4 is ideal. Minimum is double the dia. of the bit per the metal thickness. Slow the feed rate to 35 to 40 ipm. Cut in one pass, not 2 or 3. Assuming your spindle speed is around 18000. Like Techman said, the oil is for keeping the hot alum. from sticking to the...
  18. plotter needed to cut magnetic sheeting

I use my Gerber plotter to cut magnetic material. It's the model that comes with the Edge. It has a special setting for it.

If he's in the US he could be in trouble. But, he's probably not.
