I got given colorthink pro. I've never really used it other than looking at profile gamut size.
The spreadsheet only took me 30mins to write. Comes in handy as if i need to work something out i can do that math already.

We like to use bubble wrap between sheets. Or strips of cardboard.
You know you can get "digital" aluminium composite sheeting. which is what we use and never had any issues with the ink coming off and not adhering properly.
From 1 measurement file. You can create as many profiles you like from it.
Use your usual settings in i1profiler and only change your limits. Go up by 25 until you're at maximum ink. You'll have a bunch of profiles now. Test them all out with the same test print. Take notes.

What id be doing, is getting a swatch book from them with all their colours. putting it to your (hopefully calibrated) monitor. then find the closest one.

I don't think transmissive scan is a good option. Doesn't hurt to try. But initially to make it work you'll have to stick it to glass that has a lot of light coming though. Like inside and office and the sun is directly at the window (real world application)
