  1. new and need help with printer

READ.... my friend.........READ. THOSE MACHINES ARE NOT WORTH MONEY. Unless you want a $2200 doorstop. Plus you can't just "jump" into the printing field, it's a big learning curve.
  2. new and need help with printer

For under $2200? Sorry, you won't find a machine of any quality for around that price, even used. I'd suggest save your money for the right equipment, and until then... outsource your printing to a wholesale printer. The PC600's are a nightmare. Don't even go near them.
  3. can I varnish over vinyl lettering and which vinyl would be best?

Been there done that. Triple lam the print or if it's cut vinyl then auto clear. The vinyl will shrink eventually, but look good for a while.

  6. Best flatbed under $100k Used

Gerber Solara is less than that new. I think in the 60K range? Saw one run, only downfall is it's a touch slow.

Welcome. Ignore Ken, he's sleepy. :Big Laugh
  8. New start-up.

BS. This is still a business for designers. If you cannot make a quality design, you will not make good money. Your vendors are simply trying to sell you equipment, I had almost 3 years into vinyl cutting and making signs, and when I bought my first printer it was a month before I made my...
  9. Gradients not printing right in Flexi???

Ah.... it was on RGB. I'll try with everything under CMYK and see how it works. 4 little cute colored dots, not 2, right? :)
  10. Gradients not printing right in Flexi???

No spot colors, just using a CMYK color palette and a Corel color palette. :( :( :( :( :(
  11. Log clip art needed

How much detail do you need? I could draw one up for you...
  12. Gradients not printing right in Flexi???

The colors I chose were all CMYK... I'm using a CMYK color palette.
  13. Gradients not printing right in Flexi???

It didn't do this before I reloaded the program, so it has to be something simple.
  14. Gradients not printing right in Flexi???

Ok, so I had to reload Flexi 8 a couple weeks ago. Now I have a big issue. My gradients don't print out right. I can print out 100% cyan, and it comes out ok. But when I print something right next to it that is a gradient from white to 100% cyan, it comes out as a goofball greenish-blue. Any...
  15. Equipment for Vinyl Signs

Agreed. My apologies. He still might find it useful though. On with the newbie initiation! :Big Laugh
  16. Equipment for Vinyl Signs

How so? How does autocad help you become a better designer? It gives you an idea of lines, but it does not make help you become a better designer IMO. Very few of the functions cross over. I almost went to college to learn CAD design, I got a good look at it. Not for the sign industry.
  17. Equipment for Vinyl Signs

Autocad is vectors, but doesn't really have any real world sign purposes, so doesn't help all that much. Sorry, it simply doesn't. Q series is made by Graphtec. I currently own one and it is not a bad machine. Some features are dumbed down, but it works very well and is incredibly reliable...

  19. Signs 101 Design Off number 2 Entries VOTE HERE

It's a valid question. Some of these would never fly in the real world. So is this a test of pure creativity, or real world designs that we try to sell everyday?
