  1. Freakin' Scanvec

I can't really diss on it until I've seen it.... but so far everyone I know designs in CMYK, and prints as such. And when I try to print RGB files, the colors come out WAY wrong. Probably a trick I don't know, but I haven't had good luck with it yet.
  2. Freakin' Scanvec

Weird... this is the first I've heard of people actually printing in RGB.
  3. Freakin' Scanvec

Hmm... weird. I do everythign but web design in CMYK. I work off my color chart, so instead of using a pantone grey, I use a K35, etc. So far I have had poor luck with sending RGB to my printer. And CMYK makes more sense in my mind ( I mean... heck, I am printing in CMYK, why design in RGB?)...
  4. Print and cut machine. which one?

Any cold laminator will do. And non-laminated prints are horrible. A pain to put on and the inks will wipe off if you get any solvents on them. I'd consider a laminator a must. I got a pretty affordable one from www.pacificcoastsignsupply.com And yes, they'll be quite flexible. It's just a top...
  5. Freakin' Scanvec

For starters try using CMYK on everything. I mean, the printer is going to print CMYK, why design in RGB??? And when I upgraded from 7.6 to 8.1, all of my colors changed. I had to come up with new profiles as it totally messed up the one I was using. So that means importing a new profile...
  6. Help with large poll sign

I'd be at $500 just for the banners, no installation. I'd wrap it around the sign, with a bucket truck, for maybe $250. Maybe. So that's $750 minimum, or I wouldn't touch the job. That doesn't look like fun with the rounded edges, and you have to get up there to reach it. Tell her in your most...
  7. Avery vs ?

Yep, do some searches on Avery. They have a horrible name, and have treated a lot of shops unfairly. Even if they magically fixed their products, I wounldn't buy from them because of their customer service (or lack there of). My favorite brand is Oracal, but 3M and Arlon have been good to me too.
  8. Resizing Vector Images In corel X3

Assuming this is your first time using Corel and CoCut, try looking around in CoCut for a feature that makes your image bigger or smaller. Meaning, you can actually change the size of your cut image in CoCut, no matter what the size in Corel is. You might have it at 200%.... who knows. I'd check...
  9. Resizing Vector Images In corel X3

You're doing something weird. That's about the simplest function in Corel. Enter in dimensions, and boom. You're done. I'd also like to know which cutter and cut program you're using.
  10. Print and cut machine. which one?

Edge prints are still able to be wiped off with mild solvents. So for wraps etc, you'd still want to laminate them. Eco-sol printers have little to zero fumes, and can be ran indoors. I run 2 just a few feet away from my kitchen. I laminate graphics as soon as they come off the printer...
  11. Print and cut machine. which one?

I actually own a Mutoh Falcon and a Mutoh ValueJet. I want a Edge just for thermal prints, so I can use metallics and the color white. Stuff like that. For a small to medium sized sign shop, I think the ValueJet is a wonderful machine. Just have to keep it running.
  12. Print and cut machine. which one?

I dunno. Never used either. Seen the versacamm run, and know probably 5 local shops that have one. It's not a bad starter. I'd love to get an edge just as a extra printer. Would never want to use it for a all around machine, but thermal has it's place, and always heard Gerber makes some of the...
  13. Print and cut machine. which one?

Don't forget though, the Edge 2 costs more than the VersaCamm. But it's a strong machine.
  14. Print and cut machine. which one?

Your mistake for not sticking around and learning. Just gotta wade through the grumpiness. Buying a printer is not a light hearted decision (or.... I should say, it SHOULDN'T be). Do your research, put up with some crud, and learn what you need to do. As of now, we know nothing about you...
  15. Print and cut machine. which one?

The VersaCamm is about the bottom of the barrel as far as wide format solvent printers go. There are a few other options out there, but ink won't last more than 6 months, and it would be a pain in the rear to run. So, simple answer. No. There aren't any cheaper options.
  16. Print and cut machine. which one?

Personally, I think you need more research. Printers are high maintenance, and expensive. A good starter machine is the Roland VersaCamm 30". But they're $12K. What's your budget?
  17. where can we get the syringe and those small tube lines?

Nope. Not the pro types. I have a brake bleed kit that works like a charm (keeps a steady pump going into a 500cc container) but for quick pump action I just got all around syringes. Nothing fancy, just el-cheapo ones.
  18. where can we get the syringe and those small tube lines?

I got mine from a local pharmacy. Available at the counter for $0.25 each. Just buy a bunch of them and keep them on hand.
  19. Lines in prints again!!!!

Ink pump............ the blooming ink pump. Ordered one. It broke before it got to me. I get my next one Tuesday. I'll let you know how it goes!!!
  20. VJ-1204 "Not Original Ink" on the printer display

Yes I did. I'll fill in more on Monday. I'm very happy with it.
