If you're a newbie at graphics and whatnot, I'd have to say you're one of the smartest newbies I've seen in a long time. If it doesn't pan out, you haven't lost as much if you jumped in with both feet.
If you're dealing with bitmaps, the easiest (and best) is to export it as EPS, open it up in photoshop and convert it that way. I love corel, but its color management is terrible.
I always use contours. They scale proportionatly.
Say you do a logo for a business card and on that logo, with an outline of say 1/16. Now they want a sign. You take that logo and scale it up to 4' wide and guess what.... that outline is STILL 1/16 wide. If you contour it (I usually...
You don't need to get sarcastic with YOUR first post.
:U Rock:
Try breaking apart the contour from the object. The contour usually keeps its same offset no matter your scale. That may affect your final size.
OR... Try copying the object into a new document.
My money's on Gino. Dumbed down to match the mentality of a 'know-all self-starter'. Perfect name and perfect attitude of a green noob. Can't get more stereotypical of this one.
Damn you GINO!
Its Corel AND fonts. Illustrator and Flexi are infinitely better at handling contour. Bad node handles are why you have spikes in corel. Here's Why....
I FOUND IT.
To answer one of my questions about a subtotal in Quickbooks. The problem was that you can't see what the subtotal amount was of all your items, just final price with tax. This just seems such an odd place to put this, but you have to make it an ITEM and if you want it from the...
Good Idea michael . No sense in losing all of your first customers because with crappy work if you have not idea of what you're doing. I never worked at a sign shop before I started this, but I wasted a LOT of vinyl learning how to do it before I ever invoiced a job. A sure fire way to get...
That person acted as a respresentative of that company. Yes, they should honor that price. Maybe they'll be a little clearer to their employees in the future.
You gotta do the old "hesitating walk to the door". maybe they'll change their tune if they find out that a poll has been made in...
I'll second Quark and Indesign. Indesign is a bit more capable of eye candy. Some stuff you can do in Indesign that you don't have to make a picture file in Quark... Like DROP SHADOWS. I used Quark in College 10 years ago and I really can't tell of any major changes in the newer versions...
Its ALWAYS the font. Bad nodes. Sometimes I weld the font together (curve) and delete or edit some node handles before I do a contour.
Another cool thing you can do if there are a TON of nodes and you need it contoured is to convert it to curve, select the shape tool, markee ALL of the...
do they come cut and magically jump on the vehicle by themselves?
Its funny how materials are always the ONLY factor.
The thing that you're not factoring is YOUR TIME. You are running a successful business, shouldn't your time be spend more effiecently in your business?
Thats funny. Thats how I think too. I've wasted so much time and money trying to do something myself that I would've been better off hiring someone to do it.
Do you have an eye for this? Or does this look like something that is easy to do? Is this a 'good enough' attitude? If you're...
