no Mark our industry has been overrun by yahoos that have no clue as to what they are doing...we have gone from being a skilled industry that was once respected to being viewed as an industry full of people who are not capable of doing what is required of us as professionals.
i am regularly...
good grief you're a lucky guy if those are the questions you are getting asked...i get questions like
is there money to be made in the sign business?
how do i make it?
if i don't have any experience and i buy the best equipment in town will i make money?
why not?
why don't you agree with...
Kustom and this is why i encourage EVERYONE in the industry to get involved with their local government. Get involved with the writing of your local sign codes. I have been preaching this for years...ideally I would like to see standardization from one municipality to another but I sincerely...
it just makes me wonder how many people are on sites such as this getting their 'training' to do the same exact thing. this guy was dumb enough to out himself you know there are some that have masqueraded as sign people to get up and running.
kustom the sad thing is that there are people in our industry who CAN screw it up...as hard as it is for you to imagine let me assure you it is possible. i have seen with my own eyes electrical signs with no wire nuts, not to mention the countless ungrounded electrical signs, non illuminated i...
get used to it wes...i've been saying it for a year we are preparing to get hit with the largest group of ppl with no experience that we have ever seen and there is only more coming...if your business is based on consumable (throw away type signs) banners, corex, etc you are going to get blasted...
apparently you totally missed the underlying intent of the comment you received or just don't care...either way..whatever. most of us spent MANY years to learn the skills that we utilize to make our livings. many of us completed formal apprenticeship programs, some completed specialized...

it isn't vinyl underneath clear that worries me...
it amazes me how defensive and upset you are about this kustom. there are SO many yahoos that have been doing things half baked for so long that municipalities are forced to crack down. in my opinion if it is a permanent installation it needs the approval of the city, if the city decides that...
you say dimensional sign but then your equipment leads me to think you mean a non dimensional sign? what is it? is this a dimensional or non dimensional sign.
if it is dimensional i would probably use hdu and then the technique that i utilized to hide the seams or incorporate them into the...
without a doubt with this one you need to do a test. i've seen various films react completely unexpectedly when hit with certain clear cotes...chrome poly i would expect to behave even more unpredictably and because of the type of project this is a little bit of research could save you from...
hi i'm in the deli business (we make a mean potato salad and our own pastrami) and decided to make signs for a change of pace...deli business wasn't spicy enough. can you help me out? oh heck i won't beat around the bush will you just teach me how you all do what you do?
and NO you can't cut...
if you would like to experiment with hdu duna used to send out a very generous box of samples about 1' X 2' approx 5-6 pieces. a nice way to test out the material without dropping a couple hundred bucks on a full sheet.
let me know if i can help. the starting point would be to locate model number/serial numbers so that i know what equipment we are dealing with.
do you know for certain that this equipment was in working order when useage stopped? in my experience these things usually stop getting used because...
