  1. Question Fact or Myth? Printers don't make money unless you run them a lot.

Had to google continuous printing... Thanks, now I'll be annoyed every time I queue more than 1 thing at a time! ;p I usually just queue up everything for a specific media in 1 nest and hit send, so it doesn't affect me much.. Same with work. I noticed it did it once, and I thought that was...
  2. Trying to learn correctly before I run into problems!

You'd be surprised how many .eps files I open up that say its missing the image even though they are imbeded. I have to make a new document, click place file and place the eps... then the image shows up. Kind of annoying, and never made sense to me... always figured it was just a glitch.
  3. Need Help Very slow cutting curves

How are you with soldering? 10x Plug Port Connector Socket PCB Replacement USB 2.0 Type B Female Right Angle | eBay I'd buy locally instead of from China... but ports are pretty easy to fix... I believe it's 4 pins you have to solder. I've replaced some ports on other devices... I've never...
  4. Question Fact or Myth? Printers don't make money unless you run them a lot.

Latex is great. I'm doing what your doing... I bought a printer/cutter as a "Side business". The prints look good, theyre instant dry... And the lines don't clog. We run a Eco-solvent at work, and it needs maintenance every single day. We try to run something through it daily... When we're on...
  5. Question Fact or Myth? Printers don't make money unless you run them a lot.

Speaking of... Whats the difference between 110 and 115? Of course months after I buy a 110 115 comes out  Oh well, the 110 was cheaper. All I could notice was the 115 had a crosscutter... have you seen the 115s? Are they better build quality or any other changes? Can't seem to find a list...
  6. Window Pref

I'd love to.. your perf looks great, especially the holographic! Unfortunately I'm not in charge of what the company I work for uses... and I doubt I'd ever have enough window perf jobs for my home printer to justify buying it... add to the fact I'm in Canada and shipping / duties destroys any...
  7. Window Pref

If you want reliable and not cheap... 3m and Avery make a brand. And optically clear laminate. Just ask your supplier for 3m perf... Avery is cheaper a d just as good, imo. Never go generic for anything you want to last beyond a few weeks.
  8. 3M 7125 with clear backing available online?

Fellers and grimco has it. It is a cast product, and you'll be paying quite a bit more for it. I believe a 24" roll is around $300-350 Canadian. That said... I haven't found a material that's better for cutting/weeding. We use it exclusively at our work.
  9. Question Buy used Equipment ?

Ask your suppliers for demo equipment... Or check Craigslist. I don't think I'd ever buy used though... Unless it was from a reputable shop, who are just upgrading. Generally people want to sell their machines because they dont work as good, or because they're getting out of the business...
  10. Looking for trial customers to try our t-shirt design software

It looks like all the other Woocommerce software to me... but 10x the price. What do we get for $50 a month? Pitchprint is $50, and well established... works in woocommerce and a ton of of other CMs. Then theres a slew of others that aren't as polished, but a one time fee of $50.. Fancy...
  11. Onyx 12 Telling me waiting for media size for 54", although tile is only 50"

Also if you added a bleed, you'll need extra for that. And is the media rotated the right way? For some reason onyx doesn't auto rotate on some occasions
  12. Wow.. Is it as annoying to you guys as it is me?

My buddy has a Cricut. He got the after I bought my graphtec. I haven't personally played with it... But he said calibrating it is a huge pain in the ass. He has yet to get a good print / cut out of it, as it's nowhere near as accurate as the graphtec arms is. Now, he may just not know how to...
  13. paint on vinyl?

Do you guys not screen print on vinyl? We do lots of screen printing decals.... Or screen printing on white vinyl signs. I'd presume if it's not laminated vinyl, it should be ok. Obviously not the best way to do it... But still. We use nazdar ink. Which nazdar ink I can't say, as I'm the...
  14. Discussion So, how many are gonna...............................

Wow, this is till going on? ;) I haven't seen one person budge from either side. It's interesting to hear everyones opinions... But what it seems to boil down to is whether or not it offends you. I personally don't think you should be made to stand for the anthem just because you're at work...
  15. 2017 SGIA Expo

Just chiming in... stay away from Seiko. The machines are beasts when they work, but lots of "gremlins" causing issues. Our heads keep dropping... multiple tech visits, and him bringing it up with Seiko because he was dumbfounded as to whats going on, and they replied the heads have micro...
  16. Looking for a basic heat press

If it's just home stuff...you could even use an iron. Uscutter has some cheaper ones, Not ones I'd use for a business... but if its stuff for the kid that will be washed 10 times before they outgrow it, a cheaper one from uscutter should work ok.
  17. Mounting canvas prints 24″ x 36″

All you need is a miter saw, and some glue. You guys are putting way too much thought into it! For something g huge like 4ft x 8ft I'd use some expensive sturdy wood, just because all the stretching applies tension. For smaller stuff simple frame wood at $1.50 per 8 ft will do. The frame wood...
  18. non-pvc material to replace coroplast

3 year old thread... but oh well! We have a roll of 480, and it prints exactly like 180 - Didn't even need to make a new profile for it, our 180 profile yields the same results. What machine are you using?
  19. Discussion Average pay

Not everyone is cut out to be an owner though. It's not as simple as buying a machine, or learning how to install and buying a business license. Theres people who have been at the shop I work at for 20+ years... They can do most anything, but if they were asked to find a customer / deal with a...
  20. Discussion So, how many are gonna...............................

Well, to answer your question...I personally don't find it disrespective. In the 70s everyone protested wars, did it mean they were disrespecting the soldiers in the war, or were they just trying to make the world a better place, the only way they knew how? If the NFL players were protesting...
