What have you done as far as color management? What is the media that you are you trying to print on?
Before you go crazy and end up hating the machine, you need to sit back and read more about color management. The learning curve is great, but like riding a bike, you do not forget it...
Actually Rex it is. Of the thousands of members here, I would venture to say that maaaybee 5% (possibly 10%) will actively vote on this thread. The same happens in local and national elections - BUT I am waiting 'til the last minute on here
Your plotter, the Newstar. What is the year that shows up when the machine powers up? Where did you get it? As I said, you should be able to cut directly.
Where did you buy your DGI from? All you need to get started and keep your feet wet is Corel or Illustrator. Unless something has changed, you should be able to cut directly.
Craig,
You should be using the Font Navigator (font manager) that came with Corel. It makes things EASY. If you do not understand what I am referring to, or have trouble setting up, I can swing by later this week. It will only take 15 minutes.
BTW - How's the pup?
Your only option is civil litigation (other than possibly credit card chargeback - if you used credit card for PayPal). Success will hinge on your written agreement. Still, there is no guarantee that you would even collect a dime - even if you get a judgment in your favor.
BBB, debt collection...
I was font crazy at one time. I mistakenly believed that if I had all I could get my hands I would have no problems finding and matching fonts - wrong!!
I still like fonts but get extremely selective. Aside from many (especially free fonts) just being junk, a good majority are just renamed and...
It really was not a slam from Replicator. The problem IS that quality does not come cheap. There is always something cheaper than the next but since there is no "free lunch", something is gonna give.
You must decide what your needs are >>>> Then you must decide what you can truly afford to...
This wouldn't be the same machine on EBay would it?

No!No! That stuff can be too harsh on the sensors.
Regular cleanings will prevent many errors but you should not need anything other than clean lint-free cloths/towels and possibly distilled water.
Ions ago I went to work with a box of new tools. really cheap stuff, but at least now I had them. Needless to say, they did NOT hold up. My boss turns to me and asks: "How long do you plan on doing this?" and my response was "forever". His last question was: "Then why don't you just buy the best...
If the ribbon did NOT break any wires during the snag, you should be able to place some lamination around the old lamination. Not sure about the Rolands, but the ribbons that we have seen actually do have these layers glued to the themselves and therefore are a part of the ribbon.
As long as it works, Hell yes!
Many people do not talk about the Iolines but they are one of the best you can buy. The biggest thing that happens with those machines is that if the main board gets hit with a surge it goes bye-bye. Keep it protected from lighning and you should be just fine...
