  1. Newbie ?

AJ - Although I am not familiar with the particular software that comes with the plotter you are interested in, I have used CorelDRAW since Version 1.0 with first my trusty old Roland CAMM1 (beginning in 1987) and now Version 12 on my Roland VersaCAMM SP-300. Initially, I had to use an...
  2. Suggestions Please

Stuart - as Trevor mentioned, I too have never used that Roland and have heard all the "horror stories" but have over a year on the Edge system and it really is great at what it does. But you are correct with the width limitation and as well, anything but spot color looks, well, by today's...
  3. noobosity

Bonjour de Montréal, Justin :) ...bonne chance :)
  4. Contour cut through material?

Allan - what material are you planning to use? I have done this with the Gerber-branded LexEdge product where all you have to do is push out the scored decals. I don't believe I could have cut through all the way as there would then be no way for the material to stay in the plotter.
  5. Does anyone else HATE Corel 12?

Bobby H - just curious as to what it is you are nudging when you get the app to crash and is this the only action that causes it to do so? To try it for myself just now, I opened a new document, created a 1" square and timed it while I nudged it to the right for 60 seconds (zoomed out with the...
  6. Does anyone else HATE Corel 12?

Same here as with Jerry VanHorn... my 12 doesn't get shut down for days on end; have never had it crash or otherwise hiccup. The other suggestions here are quite valid as well and the 2K fonts probably aren't helping, as you suspect. Bobby H - I use the nudge all day, everyday and have never...
  7. Versacamm

Same as 'gtjet' ...wish I would have waited a month and got the 540! Love my SP-300, not a moments trouble in a year and a half.
  8. Monitor?

Haven't tried this on the PC yet, but the best setup I ever used was a dual monitor installation I got for my Mac II, back in 1988!!! A 21" CRT (damn, that thing was HEAVY!) for the main view - the working area only displayed - and a 13" Apple Colour monitor off to the side where I set up all...
  9. Illustrator 10 - "missing" swatch

Thanks much, Vid! ...that did the trick! :)

Colin ... any relation to 'Sir Tom Jones' ? :)
  11. Monitor?

Colin ... picture it ... 2006 ... Saanich Peninsula... Colin at his gorgeous 20" iMac running Adobe CS in Win Xp ... :)
  12. Roland & ONLY Corel??...

Arlo - did you read the reply I sent to your previous post about this and what interface? "Arlo - what type of interface are you using from the PC to the CAMM1 ... serial or parallel? I am pretty sure that model does not have USB. I was never successful in getting my CAMM1 PNC-1000 to "talk"...
  13. Help vectorizing

Here is the link for the Inkscape Windows version download. I just used the Atlanta site and had it up and running in a couple minutes. Cool program! http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/inkscape/Inkscape-0.43-2.win32.exe?download
  14. Members from the U.K.

Bonjour de Montréal, 'khalid' ! :) ... some folks here in Canada would think Quebec is 'on the other side of the pond'! LOL! Welcome aboard! :)
  15. Monitor?

Colin - When I bought my new system in Nov. 2004 to run the SP-300 I ended up getting the best deal on a 19" LCD at, of all places, the Radio Shack store just down the street from me in Old Quebec City! An Acer AL1912 that has performed flawlessly since and is very easy on the eyes with...
  16. Illustrator 10 - "missing" swatch

Mason ... this is from the ColoRIP Help file; basically, adding a new swatch to an existing palette. CutPath with Adobe Illustrator 8, 9 & 10 The following tech note will walk you through creating a CutPath to use with Roland COLORIP, from Adobe Illustrator 8, 9 & 10 1. Start by creating a...
  17. Illustrator 10 - "missing" swatch

Thanks Jim, but no such luck with ColoRIP; have to add the CutPath swatch manually, which I have successfully done in CorelDRAW 12. The ColoRIP 'Help' provides very easy instruction on how to do this for CDR and AI and it works as advertised in AI, but in AI, it only saves with the document, not...
  18. Illustrator 10 - "missing" swatch

Thanks, Bobby H ...I had a look around but cannot find what would appear to be a 'prefs' file; do you know the name/location of said file? Many thanks!
  19. Which Corel?

I have also used Corel since Vr. 1.0 and also had AI Vr.1.0, when it was called Illustrator '88 (meaning 1988!). As mentioned here, the node editing and manipulation in CDR is by far, in my opinion, WAY easier and more flexible than AI and can be done without using the keyboard; right-clicking...
  20. Illustrator 10 - "missing" swatch

Again, it's probably just me, but I scoured the online help and went through the steps outlined in ColoRIP but AI 10 won't show the CutPath swatch I created. Oh it's there somewhere ... AI complains that that name is already in use if I attempt to create it again. But nowhere is it to be seen on...
