I recommend using the Gerbertone STC Photo halftone at an LPI setting of 70.7. You can go higher to 90 if you want smaller dots or lower if you get any banding. I also recommend the color profile be manually selected in GSPPlot to Gerber Edge II 300 DPI CMYK for the best color match to your monitor.
When you go to replace it, be sure to clean any adhesive residue out of the slot that holds it before putting the new one in. Not doing so will result in a wavy surface that will still give uneven cutting.
If the graphic is mostly black or a very dark color, you could be getting too much heat being absorbed by the magnet and reacting with the surface of the vehicle.
