  1. Black overspray

Hate to even say it, but........... did you get a headstrike? I know it's common for Rolands, and if you get material hitting the head, it can damage the nozzles and make them work all super funky. Something to consider.....
  2. What laminators are you using?

CIIZ......... super-el-cheapo. LOL http://www.pacificcoastsignsupply.com/catalog/Laminating_Equipment.htm Like I said, works great! Although I guess mine is 50", not 54". $1500..... how can you go wrong?
  3. Black overspray

One problem.... if it's a vector file, double check the properties of your black (CMYK). Some people design with black set for C100 M100 Y100 K100. This WILL cause problems. It lays down too much ink on 95% of the profiles. Run a lighter combo, or I just set the values for black, at C0, M0...
  4. What laminators are you using?

Ding Tec 54" cold laminator. Chinese, REALLY cheap, but had it for a year and a half and this guy just keeps on ticking. I'm very impressed with it, it's top speed is faster than I'd ever dare to go, it has good alignment and has laminated thousands of yards of vinyl for me. :thumb:
  5. Need different 48" banner material

I get mine from Pacific Coast Sign Supply. 48" Tuffweave. Haven't had a problem with it yet...
  6. Please Classify Your Posts

I can call stickers what they are. STICKERS!
  7. My first newbie question - speed and detail questions

I'd say the corners are from a dull blade, and quite possibly too much speed. 30 IPS is all you really need, these machines boasting twice that much....... wow.... seriously, you don't need it. But I'd check the blade first. I always keep a few around, because you never know.... I doubt it's...
  8. Moving an SP-540 with bulk ink system

Try putting it into a covered trailer, and having someone ride in the trailer with it, to make sure it's ok. That is if you're only moving a short distance. If you're moving a long ways.... well......... pack it with a LOT of foam padding!!!
  9. Fine Lines In Print

Happens when you don't clean enough. Pour some de-natured alchohol intot he capping station (half a capful?) and then run 2 powerful cleanings. Run a small file or a test print and see what happens.
  10. printing and cutters stickers

Heck, I'd buy an edge if I could find one for a couple grand. Just for a label and transparent vinyl printer. However... best price I've ever found is $6500 for a well used one.
  11. printing and cutters stickers

Just face the fact you can't do it for cheap. Full color decals don't come cheap. Period. Unless you want to dump a chunk of change into it, you're out of options. There are many ways you may think you can get around this fact, but other than outsourcing, you simply can't. Trust me, I was in...
  12. printing and cutters stickers

You don't get it. $13000 IS a cheap price. That's a starters price, not even close to a high end printer.
  13. printing and cutters stickers

M'am.... the cheapest printer I know of.... is $13k. A 30" Versacamm. You can looked for used ones, but they're usually only a couple grand less than new. Unless you're willing to drop atleast $15,000-$20,000..... you probably shouldn't look into getting into printing.
  14. Font ID Please!

Man.... I just don't know. Anyone else know?
  15. Technique question about applying vinyl to Static Cling

Static cling and cut vinyl........... talk about taboo. Never heard of anyone doing that before. They are usually printed??????
  16. Good Deal?

I got 400GB of hard drive and 2GB of RAM, 22" flatscreen, built to my specifications, with all the cables, USB hubs, adapters, network hubs etc. for about 1K through Tiger Direct. I'm super stoked with it.
  17. LIKE WOAH BRO from southern cali!

Glad I don't work in your shop. Here, some days they're stickers, other days they're decals, occassionally they're vinyl graphics, and once in a while they're ready to apply, adhesive backed, mechanically cut vinyl film. Call 'em what you like, they're a kick to make. Welcome to...
  18. Where should I get my new computer?

I just got mine from Tiger Direct, custom built with what I wanted in it. I love it. And the price was not half bad either. I give the company a A+ .
  19. Corian Newbie

Just what I need............ another sign board that will apparently "last forever". Maybe us sign guys want our signs to eventually wear out, so they'll order more? lol. Dude, time to take out that merchant membership.
