  1. Mimaki JV3-250SP streaking/Ink starvation

Jim- If your problem is getting worse- can it be damper-related? Then again, how do you tell that the damper is bad? We have had this streaking since the machine was new, on dark purple and dark blue, have been told it was due to profile, but can not imagine why the profile should change from...
  2. Mimaki JV3-250SP streaking/Ink starvation

We are having the same problem with our 160 SP, with 6-color, running 8-pass, 720x720. We are changing to dual CMYK, hopefully we will get almost twice the ink capacity. After reading many posts with similar problems, it seems as if the heads "run out of steam". Dark colors demand a lot...
  3. Mimaki cleaning kit question

The price for cleaning solvent is a ripoff! Never mind that it is just a few $'s a day, but it compares to paying $20 for a beer... It's just solvent, which mimaki buys at maybe $10 / gallon, puts it in tiny bottles and sells for $1,000 / gal... It's a ripoff. Where can we buy the Triangle...
  4. Favorite Media

Ummm... I thought Rasterlink IS a rip program? We use FlexiSign Pro (7.6), works OK, want to try our copy of 8.5, but have been waiting for 6 months for a activation code from SAI, so I will not recommend them, as customer support is worse than anything I have ever purchased before. We also...
  5. Mimaki JV33 Series

DO NOT BUY WHITE FOR MIMAKI!! Unless needing it often. We did, cartridges were close to $100 each, and half the size of CMYK, we thought we needed it, but cartridges were empty before using it once. Then had a hell of a time getting it running again with cleaning solution in the white...
  6. yellow and cyan no print

If near end, it does not clean, I think, and heads clog.
  7. Backup Battery???

Our 160SP is in 2005, works great with 2008 cartridges, I recommend setting the date back for anyone running OEM inks. There is no way the inks go bad after 6 months. Remove the battery sooner rather than later, it's easy, and saves you money and trouble.
  8. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

When the machine is off, just pull the head over to the left, clean, and push it back onto the capping station. Make sure it's capped completely, by looking under the head and see the caps moving up! You can of course slide the head over while in "carriage out" mode, but I mostly just turn...
  9. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

And- in my opinion, the metal cover on the far left has no use being on the machine at all, take it off, tape the screws to it, and stick paper or something into the switch. Then you can put the cover into a box for the day you sell the printer.:thumb: Makes for far easier cleaning. We got...
  10. media compensation on a mimaki

When you print your tests- is the material rolled up tight in the back? If it's loose, it will print great untill it's tight, then you'll have overlaps. And- someone higher up was mentioning banner material sticking to itself. Have you checked on that? The JV3 has a weight limit on the...
  11. Mimaki JV3 160s

Being in the same room as your printer while printing, is much like putting ink into a bag, and placing your face over it breathing it in. We run SS2, and just the printers fan venting outside. Printing full coverage is far from healthy environment, we use masks while in the same room. If...
  12. If out of ink, can you bypass it?

Put in another yellow cartridge that's near end, and add 30 cc. PS: You can't add 30cc after it's empty.
  13. FlexiSign and OPOS problem

Think I'll print your answer and hang it by the computer:thumb: I'll give it a try. Will this also work, even though my printers are on one computer, and the cutter on another? (In the same network) Thanks!
  14. FlexiSign and OPOS problem

We use FlexiSign 7.6.2 Pro with a t140 cutter, it cuts fine. However, we have not been able to use OPOS with FlexiSign. First of all- is there a way to make FlexiSign automatically print the OPOS-markers? Secondly- how do I tell FlexiSign to cut this OPOS print? It's of course no problem...
  15. News on our new Mimaki!

Oh- and to Lidy- I would try 7.6 on the SPII, don't see any reason why it would not be supported! I checked, it's not in the list, try setting it for 160SP, might work, only difference is the print width, I think, and the printer checks media size itself. And- I think you can use profiles that...
  16. News on our new Mimaki!

There's no such thing as a hijacked thread. It's all good. We have been using 7.6.2, just pissed off about the color-thing, but hey- it's only money, right? We're going to dual cmyk, crossing fingers!
  17. News on our new Mimaki!

Well... We have paid for 8.5, before I knew about this stuff, have not even installed it yet. Actually think we will just throw it in the garbage disposer, don't want to cause our friends trouble:thumb:
  18. News on our new Mimaki!

News again! Removed the whites, did some changes in the rip, and wtf again! Light blues were purple again! I messed around with it for a couple of hours, and then figured that the printer had "fixed itself" So, I swapped back the dampers, and prints were fine again. But- it...
  19. How to over print with white?

As a Summa owner- go to www.digital-graphica.com They know everything about Summa's. Actually, I believe you CAN do auto white overprint- use CMY-mode, put the black chip on the white ribbbon cassette, choose black overprint- and it will overprint white. (At least this kinda stuff works...
  20. Print quality vs Setup, 6 color or dual CMYK

Hi, Signguytom- what are you doing with the 4th head? I'm thinking we may have a damper problem, or it may just be that FlexiSign sucks as a rip, we have bought the Rasterlink II rip, will try that...
