I take it no-one else is running 6-color in the Mimaki JV-3? I'd like to hear if anyone has been happy with a 6-color JV-3? I have pretty much decided that when LC/LM is out, it's getting converted to Dual CMYK.

Maximum speed is 3.5min/1m2 (360 x 360dpi 2pass bi-direction.) This from: http://www.mimaki.co.jp/english/sg/inkjet/jv3/faq/mac_a028.html 1 m2 is approx. 10 sq ft. Guess you then figure out from there, then 8-pass bi would be 14 min / m2.

Our waste bucket is now full, in less than 3 months, I guess it's around 2 l, 0r almost 5 440 ml cartridges @ $110 ea. (or $200 from our local dealer). This amounts to 2000 ml in around 2000 hrs, so 1 cc (or a quarter)/hr is about right... That's $40 / week, and maybe not too bad...

I have found that if it sits still with high heat it buckles, we have gone from 45 to 38 on vinyl. Don't know if it's better or worse.

Anyone know how to change it to 1 hr 30 min or 2 hr? probably still ok, and 33% less ink wasted. I am SURE Mimaki has set this to the very conservative side, to sell more ink! Ours does the same thing.

Yeah... I was a bit off. We have the margins set at -10. To be exact, just checked, with 500 mm media (20"), it shows 492 mm, which is 8 mm (5/16") less than the media. So- The Mimaki will print 5/16" less than the full width, with margins at -10. And, if you want 1 1/2" margins...

What about just printing a stripe on the media and measure what it REALLY does? Also, have you measured your 54" media? I am pretty sure our Mimaki shows the width of the Media.

Actually the photo was taken with a 30MP Hasselblad, put together from 3 or so photos, a landscape. Reworked in Photoshop, the file was a couple GB before ripping, but needed 14 GB in the FlexiSign rip for printing. This caused a problem since the C-partition was only 35 GB... Printed at...

Printed a photo, 5'x20' @720dpi, needed 13GB!!! For ripping, in C, so make sure you set up enough space or specify where the Rip or scratch disk stores stuff. You can probably also set up a raid, where everything is C, talk to a teenager with knowledge:help:
