  1. JV33 inksets SS21 or ES3?

Hey- I thought the SS ink was eco-sol:rolleyes: Which customer can look at the SS ink and say- That's not Ecosolvent? Anyway, It's not "full solvent", so- it must be eco-solvent. Just because there is something available with even less solvent, does not make this untrue. A bit...
  2. Print quality vs Setup, 6 color or dual CMYK

I take it no-one else is running 6-color in the Mimaki JV-3? I'd like to hear if anyone has been happy with a 6-color JV-3? I have pretty much decided that when LC/LM is out, it's getting converted to Dual CMYK.
  3. Mimaki Service Menu Code

go to: https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.intl=us&.src=ygrp&.done=http%3a//tech.groups.yahoo.com%2Fgroup%2FMimakiJV3Printers%2Ffiles%2F It's the Mimaki forum on Yahoo, there you can download the service manual for 160 S, same thing. Lots of neat ways of getting yourself into...
  4. JV3 print speeds

Maximum speed is 3.5min/1m2 (360 x 360dpi 2pass bi-direction.) This from: http://www.mimaki.co.jp/english/sg/inkjet/jv3/faq/mac_a028.html 1 m2 is approx. 10 sq ft. Guess you then figure out from there, then 8-pass bi would be 14 min / m2.
  5. Dude, where's my ink?

Our waste bucket is now full, in less than 3 months, I guess it's around 2 l, 0r almost 5 440 ml cartridges @ $110 ea. (or $200 from our local dealer). This amounts to 2000 ml in around 2000 hrs, so 1 cc (or a quarter)/hr is about right... That's $40 / week, and maybe not too bad...
  6. heater setting

I have found that if it sits still with high heat it buckles, we have gone from 45 to 38 on vinyl. Don't know if it's better or worse.
  7. Dude, where's my ink?

You said it, Darlak! No regrets, though, except I regret not buying it from Advantage SignSupply...
  8. Dude, where's my ink?

Probably has to do with all the much more interesting faults / problems on the Mutoh's? We Mimaki-owners only have boring faults, I guess, and not as many, judging by the amount of threads in the Mutoh-forum:Big Laugh We are also beginners with the Mimaki, only 2 months, we like...
  9. Dude, where's my ink?

Check out the Mimaki user forum on Yahoo: https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify2?.intl=us&.src=ygrp&.done=http%3a//tech.groups.yahoo.com%2Fgroup%2FMimakiJV3Printers%2Ffiles%2F
  10. Dude, where's my ink?

Anyone know how to change it to 1 hr 30 min or 2 hr? probably still ok, and 33% less ink wasted. I am SURE Mimaki has set this to the very conservative side, to sell more ink! Ours does the same thing.
  11. Print quality vs Setup, 6 color or dual CMYK

Thanks, Schurm, I know we need custom profiling, but to explain this particular problem, I will explain: The Mimaki has a function in the printer itself, does not even need to connect the computer, it lays down 2 stripes of gray, around 1/2" wide, across the whole width of the media, one after...
  12. Print quality vs Setup, 6 color or dual CMYK

Thanks. Oh yeah... JV3-160SP... 4 ea double heads... Heads are firing fine, good test prints. However, sometimes when printing the grey bands for feed adjustment (or whatever it's called), we get a slight gap, even though the feed is correct. Looks like the print "fades" towards the...
  13. Print quality vs Setup, 6 color or dual CMYK

The printheads are of course now 2 colors / head, but with dual CMYK, 1 color / head, but through 2 separate channels, each laying down exactly the same ink pattern (I think). What I am asking, is if maybe the dual, separate setup helps make the coverage more even. The "banding" we are...
  14. Print quality vs Setup, 6 color or dual CMYK

Hi, all. Has anyone here gone from 6 color to dual CMYK? We are running 6-color, and are having some problems with banding, more noticeable on some materials, I don't think it has to do with the profiles. I am wondering if maybe having 2 print heads for each color will assure a more even...
  15. material size

Yeah... I was a bit off. We have the margins set at -10. To be exact, just checked, with 500 mm media (20"), it shows 492 mm, which is 8 mm (5/16") less than the media. So- The Mimaki will print 5/16" less than the full width, with margins at -10. And, if you want 1 1/2" margins...
  16. material size

What about just printing a stripe on the media and measure what it REALLY does? Also, have you measured your 54" media? I am pretty sure our Mimaki shows the width of the Media.
  17. Printing Double-Sided Banner on JV3-130SPII... Aneurysm Ensues

What about printing the back upside down? If you print the front all the way to the right on the media (towards the capping station), which is default in Flexi at least, take the media out and put it in upside down, it will print the same distance from the right side. Then you can print all of...
  18. New puter, what to do with Photoshop

Actually the photo was taken with a 30MP Hasselblad, put together from 3 or so photos, a landscape. Reworked in Photoshop, the file was a couple GB before ripping, but needed 14 GB in the FlexiSign rip for printing. This caused a problem since the C-partition was only 35 GB... Printed at...
  19. New puter, what to do with Photoshop

Printed a photo, 5'x20' @720dpi, needed 13GB!!! For ripping, in C, so make sure you set up enough space or specify where the Rip or scratch disk stores stuff. You can probably also set up a raid, where everything is C, talk to a teenager with knowledge:help:
  20. Thoughts on...Colorspan 72 UVR

Don't get one to replace your Roland, but it will make a great addition... From what I have researched, the current generation UV will not replace the solvent printer, but can do some things very well. Check into the Zund UVjet 215 plus, can pick up a used one fairly reasonable, make sure its...
